Mud v/s Sand

Does it make a difference if I have Mud v/s Sand in my refugium.
I am going to a plants to it. My lfs say I should use Mud. Everyone I know have live sand.

If your trying to do mangroves mud works a little better. For just chaeto, its just personal preference. I use mud, i like it, but will probably use sand in my next fuge. I have chaeto, it floats so substrate is irrelevant.

I plan on growing caulerpa. Does anyone else have an opinion.

dont be suprized if its growing in your main tank in a few months unless you keep it on a 24/7 light period. some people like it others hate it. i think it really depends on the tank look your trying to go for.

yeah,.... I'm not big on caulerpa either. Too risky of becoming a nuisance. chaeto is just way to easy and reliable at doing the same thing as the caulerpa.

I am going with the mud and chaeto. I am now looking for a light.
