Building a stand for a 110G, 48"

I'm moving in april and will upgrade to a 110G.

I'm thinking of using all 4x4 wood for the whole stand, with only 4 post (one in each corner) on a 4x4 frame (under and top).

Would it support the weight without any real flexing in the middle?

I'll probably do the stand 1" larger than the tank, put a 3/4" sealed MDF with a 1/4" router made track all around the tank with some holes and tubing as and emergency overflow, if the tank leak, it would got to a 3g jug, still a good insurrance in case of slow leak.

I just built a stand for my 120 out of 4x4's, but I put 6 posts, 1 in each corner and 2 in the middle and one across the top along with a 1/2 inch sheet on top of that... I just wanted a little extra insurance

I could put 1 post in the back, I just want an open front.

I think one in each corner is enough. You could use all 2 x 4's and just double them in the corners also.

If its a glass tank you don't need anything in the middle. And either way, 2x4's will work just fine as they would even be overkill. Look at what the stands in the stores are made out of, 3/8" or so fiber board...

Yeah, overkill. I just built my 120 stand. I used 2x6's for the headers which are overkill but it was only a couple bucks more. Here is my thread so you can see what it looks like. This type of stand will give you the most room underneath
