Question on dipping

I have noticed these little clear bugs on my zooanthinds. I just noticed them last night, under a magnifying glass when the lights were out and only my blues were on. They looked clear, but some seemed to possibly have a red or brown head to them. Again, it was very hard to tell because of the size of these things.

My question is basically this: From the lame discription that I've been able to come up with, does anyone know what these are? Also, what type of treatmeant can I use? Will any type of "reef dip" work? Or, should I use something specifically? I've never had to dip before.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are they only on your zoas? Could be some kind of copepod.

Thanks for the link Pufferpunk. To me, they look like Amphipod's. Again, kind of hard to tell, but that's what they look like.

Do I dip for these? Or is it quite normal to have these?

From what I can tell, do they apprear to be only on my zoa's. My button's, gsp and ricordia seem to be fine from what I was able to tell. But, my guess would be if these things are on the rocks and crawling in the zoa's, they could easily move around, but I was unable to see anything on the others.

Copepods and amphipods are good guys. That just shows that you have lots if life in your tank.

Thanks goreefer! Then I will not dip them! I was only concerned because they've been closed for quite some time. They actually closed along with my GSP and purple buttons. The reason they closed was because I accidentally burned them. My GSP is starting to come back. So, because of this, I guess you could say I started "micro-watching" everything! LOL!

Thank you again!

Actually amphipods have been know to bother zoa and maybe possibly eat them. The smaller ones are ok but once they get big they become a pest. I dip my zoanthids when i get them and a bunch of amphipods come out. Don't risk it i'd do the dip.

I don't have a problem doing the dip at all. I just have no idea what to use. Can I use any "Reef Dip", or is there one that's recommended?

Any iodine based dip will knock them off the coral but they live all over your tank. The best way to fight these monsters is to get a fish that will eat them.

That absolutely does sound like a good idea, but I just don't think I have the room (tank space) to add another.

Based on my tank size and stocking discription, can I even add a 6-line wrasse?

Thanks devilsfan! <- Never thought I would hear myself say that! LOL...j/k.

I'll get some lugo's. In the meantime, I'll try the fresh water dip and I'll absolutely use rodi.

Thanks again!
