Question sump/refugium recommendations

Ive reviewed a few, some seem very expensive (aquatic ecosystems), the CPR Aquafuge Pro Sump Refugium seems good but the protein skimmer looks "cheapy".

Any advise for a 46 bowfront? I would like a sump refug in an effort to use it with a good PS also.

I dont like HOB, and am not good with DIY.

Thanks,
Eddie

it's really easy to convert a 20 gallon long tank into a sump/refugium. here is a link to the basic design i'm going to used for mine.

all you have to do it is get some aquarium safe silicon(from lowes or home depot) and get somewhere to cut you a couple of pieces of glass or acrylic to fit in as baffles.

I have bought a couple of used sumps on E-bay. Both were acrylic and both had small cracks. I repaired them with silicone and scrap acrylic from Home Depot. I sandwiched the crack to make the repair. It is usually not preferable to use silicone on acrylic. Great bargains, less than half of retail.

Buy a used sump or build one yourself out of an old tank.

Thanks for the quick replies. Again, im not good with the DIY stuff. Will look into used.

The truth is i can afford to buy it, but who wants to spend un-necessary $ when it could be spent on "live" stuff, better lights, etc....
