I have about 375 actual water gallons. So I am thinking that one of the large pills is just right.
Is this correct?

Thanks,

Yes one of the large dog interceptor pill.
Good luck just try to do it three times .
I did 20% water change and carbon all three times is now two months no bugs to be seen.
I lost all my acro crabs and some pods, but none of my red and cleaner shrimps .

Awesome.
I plan on a 40% water change 6 hours after then a 25% 2 days later.
Lather, rinse, repeat 3 x.

40% man that is to much, reefers had some minor bleaching when they did a large water change right after the Bug treatment ,but again you know what you doing so good luck.

Yeah,
My whole system is filtered natural sea water.
I get it from the university's Aquaculture lab here.
Since it has bacteria and such already in it I believe it to be safer to do larger % water changes than ASW.

Your treatment should take nearly an entire pill. A pill that weighs 1gram can treat 400 gallons. Depending on what you grind it in or with, you will lose some when it sticks to the sides of the container. When we grind a single pill we loose "10 or 20 gallons worth" on the mortar and pestle.

You can change as much water as you feel comfortable with. Make sure you use carbon as well.

I have the 23 mg, 51-100 lb dog pill.
Just to be sure, even though it says "23 mg" on the pack it is a 1 gram pill correct?

The treatment just went into my tank.
5 hrs. 50 minutes until water change and carbon.
Anything else I should be doing other than worrying that my tank is going to melt in front of me?

Just make sure your skimmer is running, but without any air. Make sure there is no carbon in there, and you arent running any ozone or UV and you should be set.
Its really pretty boring to sit and watch, it doesnt (shouldnt) look any different in there.

Sean,

All you need to do now is kick back, have a beer, and watch the bugs die.

Well, maybe in a few hours have a beer

I took my skimmer out last night and cleaned it with hot water very well.
Should I put it back in my sump and turn it on with the air intakes closed?

I think that was recommended ... and as you're `going for it' with this treatment ... I'd go `whole hog' and do as you mention. Why not eliminate the possibility.

Good luck, and let us know. [so says another fence sitter]

Going to go ahead and put it in.

So far the ONLY thing I have noticed are some acro crabs in variation's of Lorne Greene's death scene from Battlestar Galactica.
Not much else.

The bugs will start to die at the four hour mark.

Oh, C'mon, that one was classic. It's changed the image that flashes into my brain every time I hear that word now! You've supplanted George Lucas for God's sake, you can't change it!
