Talk me into OR out of a Nano Cube in my office

Hello all
A fellow reefer offered me his nano tank
I am thinking about using it in my office but I am concerned with water changes in the office / NO RO water / heat buildup on weekends
Any Thoughts ?

You might get better responses in the nano reef forum. The people I know who have nano reefs love them, but they do require close monitoring. You don't have much water to dilute a mistake.

I don't have any problem with even a 2.5g tank in winter. Summer on the other hand the tank cooks over the weekend.

Get a digital thermometer that records high and low temps and leave it at the office for a week. Or easier yet find out from the maintenence people what the weekend settings are. A lot of commercial buildings get hot/cold over the weekends to conserve energy.

I had a 29 at work and it was a pain in the neck doing maint. , a 10 or 12 gallon is much easier to maintain with minimal equipment supplies ime.

I had a 20g long at the office. It was great. I basically did no maintenance, other then topoff. It did superbly.

just remember that the hvac system is usually off the entire weekend. your office can get stifling.

I think usually is an exaggeration. I have never worked in an office that turned off the heat/air over the weekend. So you may not have that problem. It is, however, definately something you would want to check out...

Do you have a nano setup? I think i've seen more big tanks crash than nanos recently in the forums.
