Talking About BAR

BAR ( Bar Area Reefers) seeks to promote, foster and encourage education and appreciation for the ethical husbandry and propagation of marine life.

Our club is made up of coral reef enthusiasts from all over the greater San Francisco Bay Area of all skill levels - from people starting their first reef tank to marine biology professionals.

Our website contains the club membership application, a list of local reefing resources, club nuts & bolts, information on past and future club events, and much more.

http://www.bareefers.org

We are also proud to announce that our site now also contains a message board that our members can use to discuss coral propagation techniques, marine aquaria in general, upcoming club events, and club business.

Our club is dedicated to the continued availability of captive raised corals through sharing information regarding our successes and failures, as well as through hands on meetings. We offer member tank tours, workshops, guest speakers, meetings and raffles, as well as our trend setting Frag swaps.

We look forward to seeing you in the club!

Please make sure you use the same RC Handle when signing up for the new BAR forum, otherwise I cannot figure out if you are a club member or not I already have 2 accounts that do not correspond to club records ...

Some are/will be private. Most will be viewable because we want new members to be able to see what goes on.

Please note that you have to register to use the new site, it has nothing to do with RC so don't expect the logon details from here to work on there.

capescuba, that's over 1/2 million pageviews, not over 1/2 million visitors. A unique visitor could look at more than one page on the BAR website. Does your web stats package look at unique visitors and also break it down by page views per visitor? 1/2 million pageviews is great though - as long as most of the views aren't bots

I was using some in house stuff to analyze my company's website, but I eventually switched over to Google Analytics since Google has a lot more horsepower than I do to run website stats - and it's free.

Actually this was backed up by my own stats - Its a pretty subjective game anyway, because how do you detremine a unique visitor anyway?

Start with a unique IP address, but when most ISP's use DHCP thats next to useless! Then make sure we don't have returning users by checking the cookies to see if their user ID is in there ...

Like I said, it's a pretty subjective at best!

Either way that post was made back in April this year so the visits are MUCH higher now :-)

Google Analytics uses first party cookies to determine unique visitors and IP addresses are mapped back to the assigned blocks via the ISP's database (for geo-location reports). AOL is normally thrown out for that kind of tracking as their proxy is almost impossible to track - they dont even know

I checked my profile and it shows me as a registered member. How can I verify whether I have paid the dues.

Are the frag swaps the only benefit of being a paying member?

Members can check on the BAR website for membership status by login in first with handle and password and then after login scroll down membership status and checking there. Membership are good for one year from last date paid.
