My sps seem to grow down?

Hi.

Is it normal for SPS frags not to grow up? they seem to grow down, it´s like they are trying to get attached before they start to grow up.
All my SPS frag behave this way except one, a one of my montis grows up while the others grow down...

Thanks in advance.

Your corals are doing what is called "encrusting" or forming a solid base to attach to. This is normal for SPS. In time you will see more growth upward if your lighting and water params are up to par.

This is not uncommon with new frags. The corals you have should eventually adapt to your light and start to grow upward. Some exceptions would be table acros and monti caps.

The corals I mentioned grow outward more than they due upward. Having your frags encrust the way they are right now is a very good sign.

It would nice to see some pictures though.

Sounds like your corals are just fine. The encrusting is normal.

Encrusting is a GOOD thing and it shows that your water is making the corals happy in that location. Keep up the good work.

Well thanks
But one question remains. Why is that one monti growing up? it doesn´t seem like he´s encrusting, he is growing upward though....
