OK Sanjay.....you are the king of Center and Blair county now . I can't bear to look at my 29 gallon tank now...think I'll just go downstairs and cry enough to create my makeup water for today...but then, it might raise my salinity and crash my tank.......Yeah, I'm still reefin', just layin low and busy with kids sports and my side business, and PSU of course.

Looks good oh Reef God! Now I know where all those tops of corals from HUB tank went (just kidding)!

I'm going to have to stop down and see the tank in person....kinda hard during week as I'm car pooling now..but can always make it on a weekend.

How long of a drive is it to the Frag Swap this weekend??? 3hrs? I assume you will be there?

Again, nice job!!!!! Hope to see you soon!

Your pal, ol buddy and best of friends (aint nothin I want )

Sanjay

Have been following this thread for ages, drooling at the mouth!! Here at the vet school at Penn it looks like I've just about talked the powers-that-be into funding a 500 gallon tank for our new building and I was wondering if I could bring a group of interested students up to visit from Philly and look at your tank sometime for advice on setting it up? I might PM or email if that's OK?

cheers

sam

Good to hear that another univ is going to set up a big reef tank. Sure we will be happy to share and discuss the ideas with you and share our experiences with you.

Look what my tank dragged out of the woodwork !!!

I though you would have had the 180 back up and running again. By the time you do, I will have huge colonies to frag

Yeah, I'll go to the swap just to support the club and be a reef groupie. I am not really looking for more corals. Not much room left and I have a few other things comming in - some choice montis from the SF area guys. Got to save some room.

Stop by sometime.. I'll show you the set up.

Sanjay, are you happy with your lighting setup? Reason I ask is that I'm setting up a 280 soon (30"x30"x72") and I plan on lighting it with 2 400W MH with lumenarc III's. Is there anything you'd do differently? Thanks, John

John:

I am happy with my lighting set up so far. I think 2 lumenars will suffice for your tank, as long as you are not interested in a wall to wall high intensity lit tank.

Hi Sanjay, looking good!

Question on your light timers. Im building a new power center and I always remember your timers and how nice they look. I have 8x80W T5 lighting only, powered by 2 IceCap 660's and 1 IceCap 440.

- how do you like them?

- I found some "Intermatic" brand Timers in Home Depot for $19.99 and then I remembered a post in your thread about which one's would work for specific lighting. Can you shed some light on which I should be looking for?

Here's your comment on your post about yours:

"The ones I have are the AUBE brand model

According to the specs its rated for

2400 W max, 120 V, 50/60 Hz 20 A 1 Hp

If I remember correctly, these are supposed to work with inductive loads like the MH ballast.

There are some intermatic brand timers that are more limited in working with inductive loads.

sanjay."

I did a google and found this:

http://www.smarthome.com/4258w.html

is this what you have?

Different than the one I found.

I found a model EJ5000C

Ooops. FOund this on their website:

"Note: Do not use with starter, compact fluorescent or other electronic ballasts.
Timer should ONLY be connected to a permanently wired light fixture. DO NOT connect to a wall receptacle. "

So I need to find something else!

THanks Sanjay!

So, when you say, "some intermatic brand timers that are more limited in working with inductive loads" - what does that mean? How does that apply to Flourescent lights?

Some of these timers are designed to only work with resistive loads like the incandescent lamps. FL lamps, MH, motors etc also have an inductive load component, so you should really look for timers that can handle inductive loads.

A few more additions:

Finally got the light blue acro stag that I really liked

These are some of the deep water bali corals that I got from Steve (Vikebron). There are 2 others, but the pics did not come out quite good. These still have the stressed look from travelling all the way from Colorado. They should turn into real nice pieces once they have some time to settle in - about 3-4 weeks.

Got my first fish from Liveaquaria today. 3 bellus angels (1M+2F), one of my favorite fish, and I have wanted a trio of these for a long time.

I have to say I am once again impressed with the quality and care with which these fish were shipped. Box sealed tight, not a drop of water on the outside. Each fish was bagged in 6 (yes six) poly bags with the black liner between one set of bags - each bag individually tied and sealed. It was almost like opening the Russian dolls that stack up one inside the other. There was lot of water in the bags so much that there were 2 boxes used to send the 3 fish.

What impressed me the most was the water quality in the bags. When I poured it into the white bucket, the water was clear, no yellowing and almost no fish poop in the bags !! The air temps here today were around 30F, but the water in the fish bags was 70F.

Fish are acclimatizing right now.... will take pics later. The male is about 4.5" the females are about 4" and 3.5". Fish look very healthy and clean. I was told they were held for over 2 weeks and were eating well. Looking forward to see them in the tank.

I have yet to buy live from them, but from everything I have seen, they really go the extra mile. Can't wait to see those pics!
