Great looking lights!!!

How do you like them so far?

I am thinking about switching my current XM20K 400's to Usiho 14K 400.
I like them a lot - less than 1 week though, so they have not fully burned in yet - very white with a kiss of blue - keep in mind that these are the first 400's I have ever owned so I have nothing to compare them with...coral are responging rapidly - growth rate has increased literally overnight - I always had good growth, but now they are shooting up....

Almost forgot - the 2x400 Ushio 14's are w/2x110 Super Actinics

Tank - dead-on - 4000 Ushio 14's only

With Actinics

I want to switch to 48" 54w T5's 'Blue+' per a recommendation...I have an Icecap 430 - can't I just buy waterproof endcaps and T5 bulbs? What else would I need? The reflector is already in place... Where to buy T5 components and bulbs?

I think you might be happier staying with the 2X110 vho's for supplement instead of switching them for T5's. I tried the T5 actinics and ended up going to the vho actinics instead.

you can get anything you want T5 related at www.reefgeek.com

I'm not sure why you want to switch out those SuperActinic VHO's. They are said to be the best actinic you can get. I know the URI SuperActinic in T5 can't touch them.

T5 actinics aren't even in the same ballpark with VHO actinics. The T5's are barely better than the pc's. I'm not talking about overall light intensity but the actinic "pop" is just not there. Why I don't know since it's a gas in a tube and a coating on the bulb interior. You would think it would be the same but it's not.

Great looking tanks everyone.

Lunar, your tank looks GREAT ! That has to be the largest Birdsnest I have ever seen. Can you please give some specs on your tank. i.e. lighting, flow etc. Your coral color is fantastic. Do you run a fuge on the tank and, if so, how large since you are skimmerless?

Thanks.
For years I've tried different ways of setups:
1/ a lot of live rock, lack of substrate,
2/ a lot of live rock, a thin layer of sand substrate that was for decoration only
3/ a little amount of live rock, deep sand bed
An important element of all my systems was refugium.
Size of my sump is 80 cm / 60 cm, in which refugium (38 / 60 cm) with Miracle Mud, some of Chaetomorpha and some live rocks .
Lithing: power modul ATI, 10 x 80 W of T-5 mix
Pumps: the main pump is Iwaki MD 70 and two circulating pumps Iwaki MD 40
Salt: Marine environment
Method: Balling
Sorry, but my English is very poor.

My tank is quite old, it is 4 years, but the corals are cut down on a regular basis. In the meantime I did some changes in it.
