Let's not forget - our wives are the sole providers of something fish will never be able to replace.... Enjoy your tank!

So am I juan. Maybe this weekend, maybe sometime next week. The only 2 parts I am missing is the glass for the sump dividers, and 1 1" bulkhead. I gotta talk the wife into letting me have my Visa card back. I might need a ball valve, I gotta check if the one I have "lost" somewhere is a 3/4" or 1". I am going to have to build a shelf for the C/L pump, there is no way that both are going to fit on the ledge behind the sump, and be plumbed in. No biggie, just a small setback. If I raise it up though, I will have less head and will use less PVC. See ya all later, Joe.

Hey Joe, I ended up picking up some acrylic when I was in Minneapolis a few days ago. I have more than enough for my project. We could maybe work something out for it - a frag perhaps? Let me know if you're interested, it's 1/4"

downside: I'll be quite difficult to get ahold of for the next 4 days, I'm getting married on saturday

Ryan, let me know how much you have, it may work out for me. I have a couple of things I could frag.

It's a pretty good sized sheet. I just measured it. It's 35" x 46" Although there are 1/4" holes at locations of 2"x2" in on each corner. When I used it, I just glued a tiny chunk over the hole. I used them all for internal baffles so it didn't matter to me.

That was my extra! I already used one sheet of that stuff (I'm pretty bad at acrylic work I found out, and I screwed up alot!). We can work out something for the whole sheet if you'd like. I'm leaving right now and won't be back until Sunday night though. Let me know...if you're able to be patient enough!

Nice looking build to date.
Are you the least concerned about that chip you took out in the weir making process?
I have heard many a story, all bad, about small nicks and chips that eventually led to a catastrophy.

Also, are you planning on running any type of chiller, or major fans in the canopy? Seems an awful lot of heat from those MH's on that tank size.

I have a couple of good fans that I will put in the canopy. That is also why I put the vent in the front. I hope that I don't have to run a chiller. I have never run one to date on any tank I have had. I am not worried about the chip at all. I sanded it out pretty good and the edge is not sharp at all. There are no fractures from it. It was a pretty clean break.

Ok, I am not where I want to be on the build, but I will go ahead and update. Here is the finished stand. In these pics, the tile isn't set, but it is set now. I have to cut a couple of pieces and grout it still though.

I got the lights installed in the canopy.

Canopy on the tank

Here is the background with closed loop intakes and external overflow.

Here is my plumbing. I have to redo a lot of it tomorrow because it leaks. a lot. I have never had pvc leak like this thing does. I mean I could probably put it outside in the yard and water the plants with it. Oh well, it will be fixed tomorrow, and hopefully the sump will be plumbed in. Enjoy, Joe.

Lookin great. I like the way you set the tank into the tiles. At first I was wondering where you found a 40 with such a small strip of trim. Cool Beans!

good luck with the plumbing. Glad to read you sanded out that chip.

I got everything plumbed except for 1 of the returns. The one that will feed the skimmer is not done yet. I gotta wait until I get the skimmer. Hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday it will come in. I ran the whole system last night for abour an hour or so. There is 1 very small leak, but it will be easy to fix. TodayI might get started on the canopy lift mechanism. It won't be that hard to do. Once I find my camera, I will take some shots of everything running. The overflow and standpipe works awesome.
