I think at some point down the road, you will wish you had used much more epoxy. Like multiple coats on every surface of the wood.

I am VERY jealous that you can get real ocean water for your tank. I gotta tell ya that makes for a HUGE savings.
I have heard that getting ocean water from the shore is bad due to land contamination issues. That you should get your water from at least 1000 feet from shore. Have you heard anything like that or are you concerned at all about that?

not really an issue here with the sea , the water currents come strait down from cold waters , so the water is really clean , i wouldnt advise everyone to do this as not all the water is safe ! re the outside of the ply will be coated with a 2 part blue paint to seal it

Where in Scotland are you? I was thinking of planning a trip there next year, I've always wanted to see the country there. Maybe I'll stop in if I'm ANYWHERE in driving distance, if that's alright with you of course. I would love to see this in person. That's the biggest thing I like about RC, you get to see tanks from around the world!!

He has filled it with ocean water, and will place his corals in it... that is "seeding it".

Scotland is, without a doubt, the most beautiful country I have ever seen. We did the western shore and the highlands as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh over a 3 week honeymoon. I wish we have at least three more weeks so we could have seen the northern shores, etc... It was all great. I can specifically suggest going to Oban, Tobermory, Iona and Ullapool. Great little towns and places well set up for driving trips. We are going back, hopefully for our 10th or 15th anniversary. Very friendly people too!
