fijiblue,
I am trying to match your lighting with 4 bulbs. What two bulbs could you remove and the lighting look the same?

I will try to get the PAR numbers tonight. I need to research some other info to keep things in the proper context.

who makes the fiji purple bulb? I am looking at premium aquatics for new bulbs, and going to order what was suggested, using aqualine bushke(sp?) 10k 150w DE MH x 3, 4 ati blue plus, 2 uv lighting super actinic, and was wondering if I should go with 2 ati pro color, or 2 of the fiji purple as suggested or as grim suggested, just 6 blue plus and 2 super actinics. I just do not knoe if the super actinics will show much, as I do not see the regular actinics much that I currently am using. not much difference if they are on or off.

So if someone could tell me where I can locate the fiji purple bulbs, that would be great. Thank you again, you are all very helpful.

Stoneycoral gardens sells them or any company that sells the zeovit system should carry the Fiji Purple. Otherwise Reefgeek has the proColor, it just isn't listed on the websit yet.

You can get the Fiji Purples for less at AquariumSpecialty, shipping is much cheaper than others.

The PAR isn't great. 215 for the Pro Color as opposed to 242 for the Fiji Purple. An Aquasun does 300.

As far as spectrum I do have a hand held spectrometer that does OK as far as looking at what the lamp puts out. The Procolor does indeed have a deeper red spectrum than other lamps. That might give a little more growth but I still wouldn't depend on this lamp for PAR. Mixed in with Blue Pluses you already have a lot of PAR so it isn't a huge deal.

par shmar... if I can get my tank to look like fijiblues with 2 of those things along with two aquablue specials and two blue +, I really don't think the PAR is going to take any sort of substantial hit at all...

I am currently running 2 blue plus and 2 super actinics. I did have the Pro color running with a UVL 75/25. I swapped out the procolor for the fiji purple today. Pro Color is going back in tomorrow. I think I am going to put it in where the second actinic lamp is and see what I get.

The 75/25 UVL lamp is interesting. It looks like they took something like an aquablue and removed most of the green and yellow spectrum from it. It looks slightly off white. Can't decide what I think about it but it did 254 for PAR and with the majority of the output in the blue and red spectrum it should do good for growth too. Causes decent fluorescence.

really? I would of imagined from all the hype pn the procolor and fiji purple that there would of be some substantial or slightly better PAR rating...

bummer...

Here you go!!!

yes, red is in the par range. But unfortunately not deep red like you can find it in our Pro color. We find out that deep red (max. 650 - 720 nm) pops colors more than bright red (max 610 nm, you can find in most availalble T5-lamps). That is the reason why we use a special deep red and the reason why our pro color has a wider spectrum. The Apogee-Quantummeter cant "see" this deep red and that is the simple reason why the Par-readings are not so high like for example our Blue plus or Aquablue special.

Here you can see that the Apogee Quantummeter stops at 650-660nm. And because the Apogee dont "see" everything that our Pro Color emits ( 660- 720nm) it makes no sence to use this for comparisons. The real or total radiation is always higher (10-20%)

Thanks,
Oliver

Thanks for those PAR readings on the fiji and procolor grim. They don't seem to put out much. Now I have to reconsider my bulbs AGAIN. haha.

Going with a 4 bulb icecap retro non overdriven.

I was thinking

front
blue plus
super actinic
ati blue special
ati pro color

Not sure if this will be enough par now for my clam and anemone. But I think it will be good enough for my LPS and zoos. What do you think? Swap out the super actinic for another blue plus?

The Blue Plus and Aquablue Special have a ton of PAR so you should be fine.

What combinations would you recommend for a 36" TX5 Fixture, with a tank housing LPS & SPS corals?

2 Blue Plus
1 Blue Special
2 Pro Color

How would you place in fixture?

Blue Plus
Pro Color
Blue Special
Pro Color
Blue Plus

Also..This fixture has two separate on / off switches. Position 1,3,5 on one, 2,4 on the other. Would you turn them on at same time?

Thanks for Help !!

Just how you got it
or

front
Aquablue Special
Blue Plus
Procolor
Blue Plus
Procolor

In either case run the blues for maybe a hour before and after the others for DUsk Dawn.

Sparty00, can you post a picture of how that looks? I've got a very similar setup 5-T5s over a 65g tank and am thinking about trying a ProColor in the mix. I tried a GE 3000 and it was way to harsh for me. I'm currently running (front to back)

ATI Blue Plus
UVL Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus
ATI AquaBlue Special
Geisman Actinic Plus (same as ATI Blue Plus)

I want to try a ProColor in place of the AquaSun or maybe the center Blue Plus.

Thanks
