Where do you get those huge industrial-sized PVC pipes? Are they expensive? I want to do this:

That is a sweet looking DIY light setup. I've seen the large size pvc at HD, but in black. You could just paint it white with the krylon plastic paint to maximize reflection.

I'd figure out a way to mount some UV glass to protect the bulbs from breaking.

No need for UV glass as the SE bulbs are already shielded.

If you need to polish a scratch out of an acrylic tank, this is the cheapest place I've found micro mesh: http://www.woodchipshome.com

O-rings are easy, buy a DIY kit. Comes as a roll of material with splicing cement. I will check and see where mine came from when I am in the shop next. Gaskets can be purchased in "Sheet" form as well. They are a bit tougher to work with IMO as unless your cutting utensils are razor sharp, you can tear the rubber pretty easy.

Something like this?

http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pro...uct%5Fid=12117

I'm sealing the top lid of a calcium reactor to the flange. Also plan on build a skimmer collection vessel and possible extra chamber with left over materials.

Found this too

I don't believe I have seen this link posted yet and it surprises me (unless I just missed it). It is a calculator to determine acrylic thickness for a custom sized tank. Near the bottom is a link to an excel spreadsheet that all you have to do is plug in the l x w x h and it will give you the answer.

look for pet stores that are going out of business. They sell used tanks for ridiculously cheap prices. It only cost me 30.00 to build a sump/fuge out of a 20 long and some acrylic from a hardware store. That is a lot cheaper than 350.00 for one that is already made.

It is for light diffusion. Look in the lighting section around the florescent lighting.
