I don't know what the PS ballast is. It must be new to their lineup. Looks to be the M58 (PFO standard) with an ignitor. If so, it should look and act the same as the PFO standard I tested.

My understanding that they add an innitor to help fire someof the high performance bulbs (Radiums, some German bulbs, etc).

ok thanks, and so I shouldnt use pulse ballasts with regular - probe - bulbs? but dont HQI ballasts have ignitors as well, and people run probe start on those dont they? I would rather try and run hamilton 14k on my pulse ballasts, but not sure if it would cause problems,
again, thanks

anyone else using the AquaSun 10 250 watt bulbs? I have had great luck with them, it has been 7 months and I am starting to see some problems in my tank, not sure if it is the bulbs, but it seems to be. my digitatas areall closed durin the light cycle, and open in the evening, i am also experienceing some unhappyness from some of my acros (spotting, or loss of color in spots (like a lepard)) Mhurley has looked at my tank and is scratching his head the same as i, so again i ask "anyone else using the AquaSun 10 250 watt bulbs? "

you'd get a better response by starting your own thread, not asking it here, buried in the middle of so many pages. most people aren't looking here to give advice or experiences, they're just looking to see what the PAR levels of bulbs are since that's what this thread was started for.

Sorry I have not been keeping up with this rather awesome thread, but I just wanted to weigh in on my experience with the XM 10K's now at 6 months. In January I bopught these lamps and two new CoralView e-ballasts to drive them. From the start I had problems with one taking a very long time to fire. The vendor was not sympathetic so I was stuck. As soon as the (very brief) warranty period was over it started to fail completely on occasion. Over time it has got the point where it fails to fire at least one day a week. Finally it is at the point where it failed two days in a row and I am going to replace them. Will not get more XM's so I'm back to this thread to see what you guys suggest.
