I have a 5-3 and was looking to make it a resc skimmer like the new rs 80 the kit comes with a new pump. Do I realy have to get a new pump ? The one i have works fine. Does euro reef make a kit to do this without buying a new pump? the new pump seem to be the most expensive part of the only kit and the only kit i can find

Ziac:
The recurculating pump (sp2-rc-c) has special fittings / unions that are glued into place so that it hooks up to the skimmer body correctly. But, you will still have to buy another pump to feed it with. You shouldnt feed it with a modified pump with the pinwheel. You will need to feed it 1 - 1.5 x your system volume.

ER Tec, I am starting the build on my system and want to see which skimmer you recommend for in sump. I have a 72 gal with a sump around 25-30 gal (planned) on a mixed reef tank with med-heavy bioload and lots of LR and LS.
I was looking at the RS100...what do you think???

Looking for recommendation.
All my tanks have ER skimmers on them, but only one leaks. I was thinking of putting the leaky 8-2 on my 155g tank and putting a newer model 6-2+ (the one with the weird twist lock flange on it) on my 120g. Is it doable? I guess I should make myself clearer. Will the 6-2+ work with a heavier bioload on a 120g tank?

Cool good to know.
I know the 6-2+ kicks butt on my 155g with a very low bioload at work. 155g plus 30g sump that is half full. My 50g sump is only half filled =)

Hi Guys and gals:
Just a question. How many time should I clean the collection cup? For best performance. I have heard too many opinions about it.

I clean the skimmate every two to three days unless it gets two-thirds full from heavy wet skimming.

You just empty the cup? Or wash out the entire cup every 2-3 days?

I am looking to get my hands on a used CS8-2.
Now I am more famialir with the ASMs since I have a G3. What mods are most recommended on the Euro line, gate valve etc?? The CS8 states it comes with a Sedra 5000. Any advantage in using the Sedra 9000 off my ASM or just upgrade the existing 5000 to the new Euro Reef impellors or a different pump recommendation all together?? |

RS250 space requirements
Euro Tech:
On your website, it lists a "footprint" of 12" x 14", but it also states that the "sump space" required is 13.5" x 13.5". Which is accurate? Can you take a tape measure to the skimmer? I'm designing a sump around this skimmer, and space is tight. Thanks. |

RS250 - Order Status
EuroTech: Would you mind checking the status of an order? I ordered one through Atlantis Aquarium in Union City, CA. They're a sponsor on this forum. I ordered it a week ago. Mingwei, the owner left a message with you guys trying to find out the status of the order, and he told me he hasn't heard back yet. Can you find out when you guys are shipping to them? Thanks |

Can anyone post a vid of the RS250 in action. I have seen them in person, but I am actually trying to convince some ATI fanboys that the ATI BM250 and the ER RS250 are actually about equally matched skimmers. They claim that the ATIs are less turbulent on the inside, but I think thats bull considering they are forcing 5000lph of air and water up that central 7" pipe on a Bubblemaster 250, and the RS 250 does 1200lph of air almost, has an 8" body, and doesnt force everything up to the top like a bullet like the ATI.

Well Hahn,
I think sjm817 would agree he had a RS250 and then switched i believe i saw a posts where he says the RS250 was just as good. I could be wrong but i think i saw this |

sjm817 is one of the ones disagreeing with me it seems...lol.
http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...5#post10078665 The thing is, I think they are about the same because even though the ATI gets 1800lph of air, its only 22" tall and has a very short dwell time for the bubbles... 12" of height only with a very speedy trip to the top. The ER RS250 does about 1180lph of air, but it also does so in a larger body, with less being forced to the top, and with about 2x the distance to the top of the skimmer because its an 8" taller skimmer. From seeing the both at different times, I would say that the ATI is no less turbulent than the RS250, or any other skimmer w/o a bubble plate for that matter.

When you first turned your skimmer on, was it loud? I just started my new RS180 and it sounds like it will vibrate to pieces. I got used to a gentle hum from the Sedra pump on my ASM skimmer, but this is much worse.
I have unplugged the skimmer and hope one of you has some suggestions. Thanks

LOL. Hahn is talking about me, Unfortuantely, I never took a video of the RS250. BTW, I'm not an ATI fanboy, or a fanboy of anything as silly as as protien skimmer. I am probably one of the most neutral that I see around here and have championed ER quite a bit since they make a very good product. People who frequent this forum and have seen my posts I believe would agree. As in the other thread, I owned both skimmers mentioned (unlike Hahn who has owned neither) and spent quite a bit of time with both skimmers, so I would say I'm more qualified to comment on both of them. They are both very good skimmers and I would recommend either one. The RS250 did have a lot of turbulence in the body which I could see even up in the neck. It skimmed very well none the less. The ATI is much calmer in the upper part of the body and neck. Sorry Hahn if you dont like that answer, but all I'm stating is what I saw with these skimmers. I have no reason to lie about it.
I did have to make some changes to my sump layout to get it set up better for the ATI skimmer. It is working really well.
