When I was at IMAC in April, I got a raffle ticket from the FragExchange.com booth for $50 gift certificate for clams direct. Just got an e-mail that I won the raffle. So I'll be busy at work tomorrow picking out a clam or two. Woohoo!

Just used my $50 gift certificate for clams direct that I won (pretty much makes it free shipping). Requested delivery for Thursday. Ordered 3 Croceas all 4 inches and larger.

Cool! Can't wait to see them.

I hope my tank build thread goes as long as yours has!

Thanks for tagging along. This thread hasn't even had a split yet. I hope this thread can go even half as long as Melev's.

If that happens, RC will have to dedicate a server to hold them!

In all seriousness. I have enjoyed your inventions and tank ideas for quite a while.
Thanks Chris

Sitting here by the door waiting for the Fedex truck. No tracking number from clams direct though.

Updated growth pictures...

This is the acropora when I got it in December 2005:

This is February 2006, nice color change and showing decent growth:

And this is this week, it is not a vivid bright neon green. Really stands out in the tank. Like most vivid corals, the camera can not capture the true colors.

It is a very tight growth form for an acropora. Not sure if this is going to be a table, kind of looks like it.

First off, great pics as usual.

Have you had good experiences with Clams Direct in the past, or will this be your first transaction with them? I've been reluctant to order livestock (fish, corals and clams, primarily) online due to the fact that you can't really view the specimens before you get them. On the other hand, I've noticed that the vendors are getting better at providing nicer photographs on their websites, and I would assume that 'what you see is what you get'.

I don't chime in often on this thread, but I'm here regularly. Great job with all of your documentation, and I'm happy to be able to contribute in some small way toward the splitting of this fantastic thread.

Yes, this is my first transaction with them. They do have a WYSIWYG shopping cart. So they say what you see is what you will get. You have to take their word on clam sizes as they don't include a reference size in the photo such as a ruler. And they do not date the picture, nothing showing how long they have had it.

They have very fair shipping rates as well. It's flat fee, plus a box charge. So as I added clams to my order, shipping rate did not go up. Some vendors have a set point that once reached shipping becomes free. They don't have that.

This is a frag I picked up over the weekend. I have it up pretty high in the tank and in pretty high flow rate:

I also picked up this frag over the weekend. It was sold as a peach millipora. I'm not so sure it really is.

Clams direct package just arrived. Everything looks pretty good so far. Took a bunch of pictures of the box and packaging to document it for the vendor forum. The bags were cold (had a ice pack in it), and bags were cloudy. They had a bit of a nasty scent to them, but not to bad. I have them acclimating now.

Very happy with the size of them. I wanted 3 to 4 inch clams and they appear to be at least that big (smaller clams need special feeding which I'm to lazy for). Colors looked ok in sunlight, they are not opening enough yet to see true full mantel colors but they are expanding and retracting (slowly).

Shells look clean, some sponge growth, one had something like a barnacle on it. No obvious signs of holes or other damage, no snails, etc. They look clean or at least well cleaned off.
