coralvue electronic.

both of those pictures are taken with 3 @ 250 watt SE 14k and 2 @ 250 watt DE. the only difference is the DE fixtures. in the first, they are 10k reeflux, and the second they are 12k reeflux. it is acually a little more white with the 12k than the pic shows (not quite as blue).

That spike is significant to me as I don't run actinics.
The CV20k on the coralvue ballast makes only 4 par less than the reeflux 10k in the 400w range

I just went from Phoenix 14k 250 DEs to Reefluc 10k 250 DEs because I wanted something just a little less blue.

Well I got it. Now I have a pink tank
Will have to put up with it for a year until I can change again.

I do not recommend Reeflux 10Ks to anyone unless you want a pink tank.

Does that go for the 12k DE as well, or just the 10k?

Only speaking about the 10k's I don't have experience with the 12k's.

I have run CV 10 k to start and the last yr and half have run 2 sets of the RF 10ks and always liked them and the growth. I bought a 10K XM bulb for my other tank and let it burn awhile and then stuck it in my 90 to compare. It really showed me how "Pink" looking the RF bulbs really were. I never thought it was pink till I had another make of bulb to compare too.
Don`t know about the RF 12k bulbs yet..

The white balance is off from cheap camera but its shows the pink of the RF bulbs. The RF bulbs in pic were less than 2 months old at the time last month.
XM of left and RF on right using a Icecap MH ballast on each bulb.

Not trying to contradict you but the XM looks yellow and almost green to me. The only pink I see is the nice coraline algae on the back. Even the coraline on the XM side looks yellow green. Everything on the XM side looks washed out almost while the RF side looks colorful.

This is just my observation.

DaddyJax,
Like I said the white balance is WAY off on this cheap camera as the XM side is a bright white with maybe just a tad of yellow. The RF does have a pink tint to it. Like I said I have use them a long time and never noticed it till I put the XM bulb in a tank on the other wall. The first comment out of everyones mouth was "That tank looks pink" It really does after seeing both of them together in person.

I`m not saying the RF bulbs are bad at all and really liked them. It was just an observation after having them both in the house and on in seperated tanks.
I also put in one of my orig CV 10k bulbs in the other tank just for giggles and it has a definite blue tint to it over the RF 10k bulb.
All are on IC MH ballasts and the same Actinic bulbs on IC 660s

I was just posting an observation I have found with a the 3 bulbs in my tanks.

Thats cool. I use the 12k along with my 10k so I get the best of both! The coral colors are unmatched with the 10k though!!

Here's another pic that really shows the result of blending a blue bulb with the reeflux.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but has anyone had any reported PAR readings on any of these bulbs? preferably the 175's.

I love the look of the 12k, all I need to know is whether the 12k par is higher than the XM20k's par then am sold

I drive my Reeflux 12000K 250W DE bulb with the electronic ballast of the Giesemann Nova II pendant...what gets out is a pleasant bluish natural-looking light, that explodes greens and yellows, as well as revives reds and blues!

I am very satisfied by 12K Reeflux, but I am gonna give the 10K bulb a chance!

A friend of mine is about to install his Lumenarc reflector, with a 400W Reeflux 12000K SE bulb, driven by an Ice-Cap e-ballast...I can guess that the result will be outrageous!!!

I have used the Reeflux 10k on a standard magnetic (M58) ballast for the last year with no problems. I changed over from XM 10k and loved the Reeflux right away. I was thinking of changing to icecap ballasts for an increase in efficiency and PPFD. Would I see a noticeable difference in lamp intensity? Would the bulbs be a little bluer? Are people still having problems with pinkish lights on e-ballasts with the new RF bulbs?

seems to me the consensus that the Reeflux 10k is good as long as its the SE and NOT the DE...i have the DE at home and plan to switch my setup over from 4 250DE to 2 400wSE and 1 250DE. The 250w DE will be over the LPS with a Phoenix 14k bulb and the 2 400w will have the 10k

I run the SE RF 10k bulbs. I love the color on Mag ballasts I just want a little more PAR. I don't want to spend over $200 on new icecap ballasts if all I'm going to get is a pinker color to my tank.

I just powered up my 250 12K for the first time tonight. Boy it does make the blue's pop!!!!! & the yellow & greens, & pink milli!

the bulb does seem pretty dull though. I'm hoping this is the screen & burn in period & it will get a bit more white after the screen is removed & things burn in.

You should not get any pink color from the Icecap ballast but if you are not getting the pink with Magnetic then I wouldn't switch.

You don't think it's worth the added PAR and efficiency to get the e-ballasts?

I don't know? Is the extra par worth it to you? How much more par is it? Me personally I am going to switch to 400w on one of my tanks for more par.

Does anyone have any info on how the 12K 400w bulb looks when fired with an m135 ballast?
