It is just RC's way of telling you to go work on your tank.

Should I be dumping the super glue in my fridge?

I noticed on the previous page you were discussing FWs- specifically Lugol's and 2 lil Fishies new product. I was wondering if there is a specific procedure you've followed for the dipping of sps frags before you head them to quarantine? Do you dip for both red bugs and FWs? Would you give us detailed specifics on your procedures, and can you give us some insight on what products you've used that work the best?

Thanks in advance
When I get a new coral, I put it in quarantine. My frags from CRASE are still in quarantine simply because I've not had time to do anything with them.

The easiest thing is to put interceptor into that tank, and let the corals bathe in it for 12 hours. That takes care of any redbugs.

Putting the corals in a white bowl with tank water, you can use a few drops of iodine and then swirl it around for a bit and wait about 5 minutes. Turkey baste off each coral carefully in every angle possible, and see what you can blow off the coral. You don't want any pests in the tank.

ReVive is a newer product that I'm going to be using with these frags to make sure nothing sneaks in. It is supposed to melt away Acro Eating Flatworms (AEFW) if any are present.

It is also important to study any Montipora for tiny nudibranchs as these can cause all kinds of damage and infest a system if left unattended. Eric Borneman wrote an article that came out in last month's Reefkeeping Magazine, where he found garlic seemed to have some potential in eliminating them, but it wasn't quite a solution yet.

After the corals have been through all this, they go into the tank. Super Glue Gel or the two-part putty keeps them from moving. Corals that are secure tend to grow better than those that are moving back and forth in the flow.

Thanks Marc..great explanation as usual. This is exactly what I was looking for.

With regard to the putty, I was really more curious as to if there was a specific reason you used putty rather than super glue gel....I know what it does..

I do use Super Glue Gel to attach SPS to small bits of rock, then the putty to secure the rock to the LR in my reef.

Melev...... I look into that AC unit at work today. The price that was given to you sounds really good. I came up with a price around $8,700. That does not include any discount or rebates and the reason is I just dont know the rebates & discounts in your answer. HTH.....btw, how is that NOZ3 product working?

It is around 15ppm as of two nights ago. I'm doing a 55g water change now, so tomorrow we'll see what the numbers are.

looks as if that AZNO3 is working well for your tank.

I looked up at that ReVive stuff but didn't see anything about fighting off AEFW maybe i just missed it. but the stuff still sounds good. our LFS won't get any new acro's in until he finds a product that will kill them so I am very interested in this product, for him and for me.

My LFS does it old school and uses Interceptor, Flatworm Exit, TMPCC...so do I. I would love to get your assessment of this new product Marc. I have been lucky on the AEFWs so far but have battled Monti-eating nudis, red bugs, and zoa-eating nudis.

Sam, a LFS in Florida is the one that figured out ReVive would work. I think her name on RC is me_no_nemo. She posted about it in my AEFW thread in the SPS forum about two months ago.

No, I've not tried that one. TLF's was fine for a long time, but I'm really pleased with the Deltec version. I'm going to mount all the frags tomorrow as the day after I've got a flight out to AZ to visit my folks.

Tonight I nuked a bunch more aiptasia, got that water change done, and cleaned out the skimmer. I still have a few more duties to get done tomorrow.

Dude, I can't believe you typed that in my thread.

Just kidding. Yes, I just read that thread earlier tonight. You could probably pull it off if you had a huge sump and good skimmer to keep the water quality up. That will be a tank that needs heavy feeding.
