iwan What test kits do you use when you test your water? I use Salifert. I did a test on my tank a few days ago and ran the test at higher sensitivity but I'm not able to detect anything in my tank.
NO3 < .2ppm Looks zero to me. PO4 < .015ppm Looks zero to me. dkh 9.9 CA 460 Ph 8.34 night 8.20 morning (meter) Are you using test kits that are more sensitivity? |

I dont think mine is low on flow - with the streams on max pulse thats 24,000 ltrs ph and with approx 3000 ltrs ph from the return pump - turnover is 52 times ph on max and 21 times on low pulse and at night. Food shoots across the tank faster than I can sprint but the fish look muscular for the excercise:fun1: The flow issue and T5 lighting issues are not related IMO oter than that flow can effect sps growth patterns- flow is to get food to and waste from the corals as well as agitate the surface for better gas exchange - T5 or MH wont impact on the need for that. I'm not sure who your PO4 Q was for - but if it is me - yes I test weekly still - esp since taking out the rowaphos and the reading is zero as with no3. I use Deltec-Meric and salifert kits respectively. The deltec test is an expensive high sensitivity test kit - but I'm not sure how it compares to the electronic PO4 testers.... Cheers Simon

All results lie below the proof bound of these tests. If you wishes more sensitive results, I can recommend you the phosphate test from Merck. |

Beutiful!!
Some of your clams are huge!!! Just curious- Why do most people that have major sps coral tanks use tunze streams....are they the best? I dont have any expirience with them but I hear good things! -alien

If you can manage it, try to take the same pictures in two weeks (same camera, same settings, same lighting, same time of day...), so we can compare them and see the progress. I'm still on the fence at the moment, but am leaning heavily toward trying.
It seems like it will cost me $300 a year to dose the products, and I'm still trying to swallow that pill. Something that I'm concerned is what happens if you stop dosing too.

Here are some updated pics.
Been dosing Prodibio products weekly. All is looking very good with po4 dropping to .02ppm I will be dosing every two weeks soon as i have no algae in my tank and my snails are dying from lack of food. IWAN- do you think that your corals are starting to look a bit pale due to the lack of nutrients. They dont seem to have that deep rich colour anymore. Maybe the nutrients are getting to low?? your thoughts. Last edited by tangblack; 03/11/2006 at 05:20 AM. |
