So I don't know where to vote for thread of the month, can someone tell me where to go so I can help out Tim. I need to stay off the "desirable" roommate list.

I thought I'd misplaced my credit card yesterday, but now I know she swiped it and ordered some new threads! She's absolutely out of control, I tell you! (I even caught her tidying up the tank last night.) I'm going to have to break the news to her than an invitation from Tim to come to dinner doesn't mean what she thinks it does. Her considerable size would still likely be no match against the great Tim's battle skills!

Tim spent a good deal of time typing a lengthy message to someone. I didn't get copied, but his thoughts were easily captured...

Tim's been sweet on you, Nikki, since he discovered his X-ray vision while you were peering through the glass...

Between you and the Goddess Omega, I'd say he's in trouble...

The anatomy of a dinner-date

A couple of local reefers made a long trip to pay homage to Tim yesterday (Thanks Richard and Wayne!). They knew they had found the answer to Tim's long search for the perfect roommate.

Isn't he cute?

It didn't take long at all for the two of them to meet.

After the long protocol of official stomatopod to crustacean greetings finished they closed for a tender embrace.

Honestly, during the whole affair I was expecting the little guy to scream out "CARBEAR STARE!" Complete with hearts and rainbows. So after a brief affair Tim hung the sign out once more. It looked promising, but alas their love burned like a shrimp on too hot a barbie instead of the slow simmer of lobster boil.

(To his credit, this little crab put up FAR more fight than any other of Tim's dinner-dates since Kryptonite. It was a spectacular battle and several times during the whole thing Tim chose to curl up showing his telson out to the crab. The big huge emeralds run away at the first sight of Tim, but this little bear stood his ground the whole brutal time. Thanks again Rich and Wayne!)

Wow, what a long and involving thread! It took 4 days but I must say, Tim has definitely inspired me to find my own mantis to call master.

I did notice(unless I'm blind from so much reading) that the Darth Crab story has yet to be told...

Tim, I would question the character of the new applicant. Are you doing any background checks?

Please do be careful as we enjoy your stories but fear one day you will have a room mate that poses a threat to your well being.

Mmmmmmm...

Tim appreciates health conscious roommates. Tim's early morning routine consists most of crunches and stomo-boe katas.

From looking at "Killer's" pics Tim thinks he is more into the dead-weights. Uh...

Tim would certainly appreciate a roommate who could spar with Tim...

Tim also thinks his keeper should definitely accept "Killer" on my behalf (if he knows what is good for him).

I'll PM you some detailed tips that I stand by, but generally:

1.) Find/buy a clean and compact soup thermos (WallyWorld $1-$5 dollars) - do NOT use any type of "ziploc" bag, ever. Not even double or triple bagged. I have never received goods alive when shipped in "ziplocs." What I have received is damp/destroyed packing material with foul smelling damp insides.
2.) Fill container with half tank water and half air (do not ship live animals with rocks, it just gets messy - some people suggest shipping with a small piece of algae, but simpler is probably better in most cases).
2a.) Insert livestock into water/air mixture.
3.) Tightly seal thermos. I also use masking tape to further seal the top when available.
4.) Place thermos (with livestock/water/air mix) in smallest box you can find that will fit it.
5.) Fill remaining space with newspaper or paper towels to absorb shock/water/temperature shifts.
6.) Ship second-day or priority ground (for meals) or faster (for more expensive livestock.

Sheesh... maybe I won't PM ya, Cutie. That list looks fairly solid.
