Found the PA group buy and the www.thereefstop.com group buy. PA's group buy is for the non back lit display and the reefstop is for the one with back lit display. Here is some of thereefstop prices $161.90 for the AC JR, $75 for the DC 8( 8 outlets), and $ 107.95 for the DC 4 HD (4 outlets that handles heavier juice). Best buy that I could find. I ordered today from thereefstop cause I wanted the back light.

Premium Aquatics group buy does include the backlit AC Jr for $164.90. However, the price is a couple dollars cheaper at thereefstop before shipping. Not sure what they charge. Either way its a good price

Actually that is incorrect. The PA unit also has the backlight upgrade.

Here is the quote from their website:

The base price of $164.90 **includes backlight upgrade** is the Neptune Junior plus temp probe.

But the Reefstop price is still 3.00 lower.

I just recieved and E-mail from thereefstore.com and it sent me to updated group buy that they have. I order it Monday and am #4 on the list - but they just lowered the controller price to $149 and added the ability to get the serial port option for $25 added to the controller so you can use the Aquanotes Lite (free version) with the AC Jr.

We need some more orders at thereefstore.com please so I don't have to wait long

Its the software you use to control your controller from your PC. You can download all the info to your PC if not you can still do it thru the controller. The serial port is how you connect the controller to your PC.

Man this kinda blows. I'm receiving my Jr tommorow from the PA group buy, this one did'nt have the serial port option. Reef Stop couldnt have done the GB a couple days sooner? Atleast the PA one is lit.

Aquanotes allows you to log your reef and stuff on your computer - I think.

Ther serial option allows the Aqua Jr to conect to your pc.

Yeah, I'm also bummed they did not have the serial option when I bought my Junior. Having Aquanotes would have been sweet.

With this feature it definitely blows RK 2 out of the water....

I just joined the group buy at ReefStop, with the DC8 and lab pH probe it ends up being almost half price compared to MarineDepot. The Dc8 there is $175 vs $75 at ReefStop. Anyone know how many are in the group buy so far? I hate waiting!!

Only downside to the DC8's is you can run IC/electronic ballasts off them.

I didn't know that about the DC8, but thats ok in my case, I use PCs. I mostly want it for the pH mon/contr to dose kalk and temp mon/contr for fans and heaters.

I just did a little bumping to get more people on this, for one its a good deal, want to make sure as many people know about it as possible. I also want mine faster?!!>> Been wanting one for a LONG time, couldn't justify the $450 price from MarineDepot.

Do you mean cannot?
[not much a downside if you can ]

So how would you run a IC elec ballast of a AC jr then?
I'm still learning these devices ...

You could use a relay, DC8 power closes relay circuit to a normal outlet. I've seen people doing similar things in DIY posts.

There are no issues with Ice cap ballasts on a DC8. You can use any of the Icecap ballasts with the DC8.
