The 13k Giesemann has no blue to it at all, very crisp white, with a good par rating. PAR will not be as high as your Aqualine is, but its still up there, and a little more white to boot.

there is 2x400w on either side & a 250W in the middle, all the Reeflux. The 250w one is about 18months old & one of the origionals, I get around to changing it over one day but it dosent really have to have great output as there isnt much under it. |

I just changed my 250w xm,s to reeflux bulbs after seeing them on tony's tank, good thing he also sells them (www.acropora.net) I've been running them about a week and have had no problems at all. These bulbs make the blues in your tank look incredible without having a dim too blue look to the tank.

I just ordered a Reeflux 10K SE 175W bulb. It is going to replace my 1-yr old Hamilton 10K (which previously replaced a 1-yr old "German" 10K from Marine Depot). I will try to remember to take pics. In case anyone is interested in doing research on these old bulbs to see how the PAR drops after 1 yr, let me know.

Here is the picture. I tried to take some of the tank but with the bulbs mounted so close it didn't show much. I can see it with my eye but the camera couldn't. The Reeflux is on the left and the Ushio is on the right.
Regards, Kevin

I am running several of these bulbs (250W and 400W) over a prop system and am seeing some pleasing results in terms of growth and colour compared to BLV and another brand we have in Australia. On my tank these are a very pleasing colour to the eye, nice and bright with a hint of blue. I have been running vue bulbs on and off for the last few years and not had any problems.
Cheers Paul

Not sure if it's the angle of the pic, but the Reeflux looks so much brighter than the Ushio. Thanks for sharing.

Rich,
Part of it is the angle. You can see the whole bulb on the Reeflux (I think it was hanging down in the socket more). Also the Reeflux is less than 30 days burning and the Ushio is 3.5 months. The brownish/yellow that you see on the Ushio bulb really is there. I would guess that the Reeflux bulb is 20% brighter than the Ushio. Regards, Kevin

Kevin,
I was just about to do a search for these bulbs and suddenly this post popped to the top of the forum. You are a mind reader. Thanks, Sean

Hey Sean,
I do what I can I think the bulb is worth a try. I think I like it. I'm pretty fickle when it comes to bulbs. I have the ballast I like but I'm running 5 different brands of bulbs at the moment Regards, Kevin

Help me make up my mind please. I currently 2 250 watt DE Phoenix 14Ks and 2 250 watt 10K ABs over my 240 cube. The Phoenix 14Ks are not 'bright' enough for my taste, but the AB 10Ks are too yellow and my 54 watt actinic T5's can't compensate enough for them.
If I'm looking for maximal brightness with just a tint of blue, should I get the Reeflux 10Ks and hope the actinics can compensate, or should I get the 14Ks and hope the actinics aren't overkill? Here's a side view of my tank. You can see the 10Ks on the left and the 14Ks on the right. As you can see, the colors are kind of 'washed out' under the 10Ks and the side under the 14Ks appears too dark. Any advice would be well received. Thanks in advance.

I like the 14K side personally. Are you running HQI ballasts? I've heard others report the Phoenix are whiter with HQI.
Have you been able to compare growth between the two sides yet? |

Hi Schanz.
I am running HQI ballasts and the Phoenix are still quite blue. Fortunately, I am seeing good growth under both bulbs, but certainly more under the 10Ks. The frags you sent me have encrusted at least 1/2" to 3/4" radius from the frag and have grown out significantly as well under the 10Ks with a little bit less under the 14Ks. But, I'm just happy to have things growing again For a color reference, under the 10Ks, the pink with blue tip mille you sent me looks dark tan with just a tinge of pink with dark purple tips at first glance, but when you get real close and stare at it the pink coloration starts to show as does the blue tips. I am pretty sure that this same frag under the 14Ks would look pink and blue as it should. So, I like the colors of the corals under the 14Ks, but the brightness the 10Ks give the tank overall. Trying to figure out which bulb will give me the best of both worlds, the Reeflux 10Ks or 14Ks?

I go back and forth every time I change bulbs. Bottom line is there is no one perfect bulb. I'm back to 10K xm and vho. Still adjusting to it after having AC 14K for so long.

I just ordered a 400 watt 10k to replace a 6 month old AB 10k.
I will take pics if anyone is interested. Sean

Would love to see pics, Sean.
I am waiting until my 10K Reeflux burns in, and I will post a couple as well.

i'm burning in 400w 10k's on a Son Agro ballast right now. First impression... it looks like radium. We'll see if it whitens up a bit.

can somebody w/ the reeflux confirm that i have the same bulb (perhaps a pic)? i'd take a pic of mine but i don't have a digicam. the internals look as follows, starting from the socket: strange looking clear circle of glass, a capacitor and wire braid in a loop, the part that burns, another wire braid.
