This tank has only been up and running about a year and a half, with the corals introduced about 3 months after start up, the GSP are actually a pain to control. I had a piece of them almost 3 feet long by 10 inches wide that I just sold half of to make room for some rics and clams.

Dude, Safe or not the can needs to go. The Copper-Banded looks almost ashamed that he got caught next to it .... is that photoshop??
Dude, you are correct, I diden't leave the can in for longer than a year. I found it while diving in the Long Island Sound and I coated it with fiber glass resin. I removed it when the fiber glass began to peel.
The copperband is perfectly happy and takes a nip from the can occasionally.
Most of the botles I also picked up from wrecks and many of them are broken. Some of the ones I"built" like the first picture in the first post, I broke, then glued back together and left a piece out. I used a dremmel to smooth the edges.
Some of the bottles have been in there since the tank was brackish in the sixtees. I have never found a problem and the water never turned hypoxic in the bottles. Fish have spawned in them and besides, I like them.
