Thanks lvpd186. The pix are actually kinda misleading. Yes, that's pretty much the final spot for the tank but there's a good 18" of clearance from the top of the tank to the garage door track. My plan is to make an open top canopy for the lights. I am thinking of using 3 250W DE bulbs in either Luminarc Minis or Lumenmax 3s supplemented with 4 6' T5HO's.

Nope, that's an exterior wall that faces the front door.

Thanks cbui2. LOL........I won't need a hole. I'll be in the garage most of the time anyways

BTW, which part of NO do you live in? I grew up in NO and left to go to college at UCLA. Have been out here ever since. My parents still lived there until Katrina flooded the house.

Avondale, LA. guess that was the deal with wifey, but a bigger tank is better then smaller one no matter where its located. i still think just a porky little hole will do the job IMO maybe something similar to submarine specs . any new updates?

LOL..........yeah, everyone, including myself, had their own opinions. But the one that really mattered at the end was my wife's

cbui2 - Yes, a 300 is much better than my current 30. Now I don't have to wreck my brain trying to figure out where to put 1" frags, at least not for a while I'll have more updates after this weekend. The plan is to cut and install the baffles in the sump. I only have time to do stuff on the weekends with a couple of little kids running around.

Man, the weekend was almost a waste as I didn't get a chance to work on the tank until Sunday night. And then 3/4 of the way through routing out the top bracing of the sump, the bearing on my flush trim bit broke and I had to wait until Monday to pick up another bit to finish it off. Anyways, here are some shots of the progress and the finished sump.

Sump before I took it to town

One side removed and the other side 1/2 done

The first baffle going in.........

And the finished baffles..........

I still need to make a bracket to hold 2 filter socks to the left of the skimmer. Then drill the hole for the return pump and it's ready for the leak test.

looking good Kenny, will you be adding some type of mat under the pump to reduce the noise level?

Thanks man. You can't see it but I did put an old mouse pad beneath the pump to reduce vibration and noise, not that noise is going to be an issue in the garage

my entire setup is in the garage and with only one pump in the beginning testing was loud humming enough to reach my bedroom. it was installed on 3/4" plywood supported with 2x4.
is that daddy's little girl, how old is she?

Eric you better get back before you change your mind and upgrade.

Eric - what are you waiting for man. Get going already. I just checked out your thread and looks like you got a bit of action going on over there

Bart - which return pump are you using? I am running the Dart and it's quiet as heck. No, that ain't daddy's little girl, that's my son when he was about a year old He's 3 now and definitely look and act like a boy. My little girl is 15 months. And yes, she does look like a girl

I finally finished all the plumbing last night on the overflow drain and double checked everything.

This is from one of the 2 2" drains that has been reduced down to 1.25". Then part of it is split off to feed the H&S skimmer. I decided to install a gate valve for the skimmer feed b/c it's more precise. Still have to get a nipple and tubing to make the connection.

Both drains installed. I need to make an acrylic bracket to hold 2 7" filter socks for the drains.

Ouside view of the 2 drains.

No leaks overnight so that's a good sign. At this rate, I am hoping to have the NSW delivered soon, just need to make the arrangements.

FILL 'ER UP!!!!!!!!!!!! It took almost an hour and a half to fill the tank/sump

Tanks/sump filled and pump running last night

There is a LOT of water moving through this system. Water from the drains.

I had to dial the return down a bit with the union valve, otherwise, it's like Niagara Falls in the sump.
