Yeah, I can't see that one either. So without seeing that one I would choose #4. But the missing picture could be the best of all and I wouldn't know it.

Hey all- sorry it took so long for a response to your questions. The calendar will be made available here. We haven't decided on the price yet. We'll run this poll for a few more days and then get that calendar ready for people to purchase.
Tell everyone to come here and vote!

I love the first two and the last one. It would be nice to have a hard-rule about color correcting/photo-shopping. I'm just sayin...

Nah, blurry for me too. It's taken me a long time (and I still struggle) to recognize not everyone is a photographer, so they don't understand why we vote the way we do. Most aren't going to recognize the faults in a photo, or what it's lacking. Most are completely satisfied with all that motion blur.

I'd imagine it's the same in a converse situation for us. I can imagine either of us heading into another skilled area and declaring "I like that one because of [whatever reason]." Does that make it right, or equally wrong? I don't know.

I've made attempts in a few of the polls to explain why I vote the way I do, and take the time to break down my decision process. Though I did this in an attempt to help others further their understanding, I don't know that it was seen as anything but snobby arrogance.

The school of tangs looks so natural that it's hard to believe the fish are in a tank.

It is what it is. Maybe the voting should be limited to only those with some level of phographic expertise.

gregr, beerguy,

Since we're publishing this as a photography calendar, do you plan to include EXIF data for the images (camera, lens, basic exposure info)? If so, let me know, and I'll dig up my originals. I don't remember if the information was stripped from the files I provided.

Elliot, thanks for your comment.

joeychitwood, You should see them in reality the tank is just amazing, I got really lucky that they were schooling and I was there to take that shot. I waited for hours for another similar shot but it nver happened.

tmz, Guess it would be nice to hear the professional critique of the pictures but still allow people of limited expertise to give their choise as in addition to the photographic aspect this is still a calender targeting reefers!
If you look at professional pictures in magazines you find a lot more technical mistakes, lots of blown highlights, chopped heads or extremities....

I think that the 10th picture works the best for a cover cause it bests demonstrates a reef as a whole.

Your picture is wonderfull. It's serene and natural and I could spend a good bit of enjoyable time looking at it. My comment was directed at the fellow who took pains to in a general way criticize one photo, touting his expertise and wondering why the non photographers viewed him as arrogant. He made me feel as if I had no place in the voting and it irked me. I would welcome technical comments that I could learn from as a non photograper.
