So I guess you learned from the mistakes of your first year?

After 20ish years of not seeing a dentist, I spent a few months this last spring gettting a series of work done including getting my wisdom teeth out.
I had 3 of 4 wisdom teeth pulled, the oral surgeon determined that the 4th, being an upper that has never emerged, was actually safer to leave in than to pull. He told me that at my age (40something) that there was risk of involving the sinus if he went after it.
I had them put me under for the proceedure, and I took the pain meds as prescribed the first day though I wasnt overly sore. By the third day I had stopped taking prescription pain pills and was just using tylenol as needed. After about a week I developed a dry socket, and I finally discovered why everyone complains about getting teeth pulled, I had significantly more pain in the second week than I had even the day of the operation.

Come on people...take some responsibility for caring for yourselves (not just to be picking on you, Dave).

No worries! I was young, dumb and bairly 21 at the time. I wasnt blaiming the doc for that though, its my own fault for smoking when I was told by him not to...thankfully I didnt get dry socket!! Stopped smoking after I sucked the clot out a few times because i didnt like my mouth full of blood!!

Ick.
You were awake for that?! I happily slept through the removal of mine.
