Looking goodand it looks like the addiction is hitting you quick! One tank up a few months and already upgrading huh!

The current tank is looking good and from the attention to detail of the new stand reinforcement the new tank will be awesome!

Good deal. I have had my tank set up for almost three years now and I will look at someone else's tank and get ideas on how I can improve or upgrade mine. My next project will be to upgrade the close loop pump and add moonlights.

I have always like the hidden powerhead concept...let's just hope some little critter or fish doesn't mistake it for a cave and try to swim in...albeit against the current, but anywho...

Looks great...

Seeing as how 90% of my tank comes from RRC frags, I figure I'd post some updates. Thanks again to everyone up there for allowing us Beach folks to attend your meetings. Sorry for some of the washed out pictures. Still trying to figure out Jake's digital 35mm.

I don't know why I keep coming back to this thread, it just reminds me how far I have to go

I'm certainly enjoying the trip though.

There are some absolutely stunning tanks in this thread, great job all!

Finaly got the tank in a semi-presentable condition. Please forgive all the white epoxy, I finaly got around to mounting some stuff last night.

I'll try to grab some interesting closeups later.

Well guys, the 30g build is done...I have my corals and rock and fish in and everyone is beginning to adjust nicely to their new homes...not bright and colorful yet like some of your tanks but it will get there...

The stand and canopy are not perfect, but for my first stand I think they turned out well...

Contents are as follows...

2 - ORA Clownfish
1 - Royal Grama
1 - Small Hippo Tang (which will end up in the 75g in 6 months or so)
1 - Peppermint Shrimp

1 - Pulsing Xenia
1 - Pom-Pom Xenia
1 - Frogspawn (2 1/2 heads - 1 head is splitting)
1 - Torch
1 - Toadstool Leather
1 - Finger Leather
1 - Frilly Mushroom
2 - Ricordias
1 - Green Maze Brain
Rock w/ about 10-15 Button Polyps
Rock w/ 2 different types of Zoas
1 - Hawaiian Feather Duster
1 - Yellow Feather Duster

Hey hey, looks good. I think the stand and canopy came out quite nicely. Better than I could have done for sure. I'm glad to see all your stuff made it home from the last meet :-)

Yeah, all the stuff from the meet made it home and is doing very well! The frilly mushroom that LB gave me is crazy cool...it gets a little bit of food on it and it bunches way up around it and devours everything!!

New to the site and SW in general

I am new to the site and a newbie in the realm of reef tanks. I have a decent start going and will be moving to Deltec Ca Reator and Skimmer once the fund recouperate from the setup so far. Here are a couple picts of my tank, No corals yet just finished the inital cycle 2 weeks ago and now have three fish and the cleanup crew going strong. Just added some Green Mushrooms last night (they were free so I figured I would see what they would do this early in the game)

Setup:

90 Gallon Bowfront w/ Bottom Drilled returns
20 Gallon Sump/Refugium
No Name Skimmer (identical to the CA 250 Gal Skimmer)
12 Lbs Fiji Refugium Mud
88 Lbs of Pucani Live Rock
1/4HP Chiller
2x250 HQI MH 14000K
2 96W CF Actnics
6 LED Moon Lights
Phosban Reactor
MAG9.5 return Pump
CA 1800 Skimmer Pump
CA 2300 Power head
Rio 600 Power head

***NOTE***
All power heads are getting ready to be replaced with 2 Hydor
Koralia 4 or 2 SEIO m1100 haven't decided yet. Would love to
go straight to the Tunze Streams with the Wave maker but at
over 500.00 for 2 power heads and the multi controller, it will
have to wait ;-)

LiveStock

1 Lawnmower Blennie
1 Yellow Diamond Goby
1 Sturgenosis Tang
5 Astrea Snails
3 Large Turbo Snails
3 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
12 Blue Legged Hermits
2 Fancy Nassarius Snails

Yeah I have learned already that this hobby is just as expensive as my diving addiction. I had to get the chiller because since my main object is corals and the 694W of light was keeping the temp right around 82 degrees. I could have went cheaper with a couple of fans but I figured in the long run it will pay for itself in the health of my tank maintaining a constant 77 degrees. Next big investment will be for a Ca reactor, but I will hold off till the tank is about 6 month old as that is when I will probably start adding the main SPS corals. Right now I am sticking to buttons and mushrooms, then to the leathers and some frogspawn and hammers, then finally the acro's. I added some green mushrooms and green dragon eye Zoanthids Sunday night and they are already fully open so conditions must be good for now (at least that is what all the tests show 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, <10 Nitrate, 390 Ca, and 12dKH) not bad for no supplements yet. The mushrooms and Zoo's I added are already budding new polyps and it has only been in my tank for two days. I still have to learn how to frag them so I can participate in the club swaps.

My new frag tank build out

OK its official, I now have a addiction and must make an appointment with a Psychologist to get some meds to cure this obsessive/compulsive problem. I can't even go into a fish store without drooling, and spending my kids college funds. So here is my start at trying to turn this into a self supportive hobby (Yeah Right) but its a start. I decided to setup a frag tank and start propagating corals as they grown in my main tank. It will be a few months before any of my corals are truely ready to frag so I decided to start building out the system. I am going to feed the inflow through the PVC in the tank using a MAG7 or MAG9 pump. The little input connection on the back will be removed and the pump plumbed in using straight 3/4 PVC in a closed loop. I will then add a hang on backpack skimmer, and thrown some small live rock and rubble under the egg crate for a little extra filtration. I will get the rock from my current tank along with 20 gallons of water, so there should not be another cycle and if there is it would be very small. Tank a look and give me your feedback.
