it was a snap to put together here is the how to: before in the tank ![]() take it out ![]() sure flow pieces out ![]() take apart the mj900 ![]() put in the new prop / shaft ![]() ----- on the housing ![]() slide on the mount ![]() |

Looks good!
May I ask what size/strength magnets you are using? I'm wondering what magnets to get for my 120G glass tank. |

those are the 85 lb pull force discs from gauss boys. very powerful.

AquaPython,
Do you think the 60lb pull mags are enough ? 85lb pull magnets on a glass tank make me nervous ...lol |

somebody else posted and said the 60s were fine. these are all i have to go with. there is no danger to the glass if you hold the pump in place and slide the other magnet on the outside of the glass laterally across the glass surface toward the pump.

i have 1 85lb and one 60lbs and Aquapython is right as long as you slide the magnet into place across the glass you should be fine.

What size to replace K2 or Nano
I just found out we can order them in the Great White North now
![]() Seeing they can be used on a WaveMaker I am thinking of getting couple to replace my K2 and Nano 6025. I would like a little more flow than what I got now ... they will be used near the top of my tank where all the SPS are... the closes colonies are 3" to 6" to the PHs. What will be a good size MJ replacement kit to get? the 600 or 900 or goes crazy with the 1200 (which I think will start peeling the SPS) Looking at some of the pics...can't they be fitted (i.e. the ball joint ) onto the K's magnet mout? |

I dont think it matters which MJ you get. From what I understand, all the MJ's are supposed to give you about the same flow. And if that's the case, I would get any of the MJ's but the 1200, cause it uses like twice the watts.

That's not entirely true. There is some slight differences bertween the MJ400 and the MJ900/MJ600 magnets that won't allow the MJ400 magnet to spin certain propeller for example. The MJ1200 also has a much stronger motor (hence more wattage) and could spin the Dumas 3004 (1.75" diameter) propeller whereas the others won't.

Again, anyone use with the mj400s?

Yes, they work great with the 400.

it still will be a difference in flow by much. the kit stating 1600 gph from any mj is wrong. you wont get 1600 from mj400

As promised, I received the Triton Aquatics Gulfstream II kit and tested it against the Sureflow 1600. Here are my findings below:
1. The GS2 is much sturdier built with better material. 2. The GS2 shroud is slightly larger possibly allowing for larger propellers to be used. Assuming your MJ pump can spin them of course. 3. Side by side, the medflow GS2 w/ Octura 1435 is about the same in terms of flow but is noticeably quieter. I believe this is probably due to the the Octura 1435 prop used which is more streamlined (re: sharper prop blades) and more balanced than the Sureflow's prop. 4. The highflow GS2 w/ the larger Dumas 3004 prop literally blew the Sureflow out of the water in terms of flow. Easily 2000+ gph. 5. What I DO like better in the Sureflow is the ball joint mount which allows for better positioning of the MJ pump. Whereas the current GS2 mount can only swivel side by side. Now I was told by Triton Aquatics that a new ball joint mount will be avalable in mid-November. 6. Now here's the one thing that sets the GS2 kits above all the rest. Since the propeller is removeable/switchable, you can essentially mix and match propellers to your heart's content. Basically any RC boat propellers using a standard 3/16" shaft hole can be used as long as your MJ pump and spin them. The new GS2 kits will be released some time this week and prices are as below: $14.99 for a medium flow kit and $15.99 for a high flow kit If you want one before then you will need to send them a direct email. dhnguyen - Thanks for the review! I like the look of that shroud too! Hey, what holds the prop on to the shaft? Looks like a pressure fit into the keyed area from the pictures but not sure.

Yep it is just a pressure fit shaft. It is a very tight fit so you have to use pliers and be careful when removing propellers as to not break them.

Any thoughts how the GSII compares to the Sea Flo? They are up and running again. The price is a bit more...$27

i already have a few dumas 3004 props laying around can i simply buy the medium flow kit and swp out the octura prop and save myself the extra 2 bucks?

Yes you could frezel., the props will all fit on the same shaft.

cool thanks, just that in the pic of the props side by side it seemed that the dumas prop shaft was a bit longer than the one that had the octura on it.
