John,

if there was one collecting last century , that must have been before they had a wildlife responsible on the Island.

Last fish showing up in Europe where all illegal supplied by Army staff. If you see the prices in Asia I can see how attempting this must be for army staff to male quick bucks.

Man that is an interesting conspic/meridithi hybrid. I bet that sucka develops a crazy colored face when it gets older. Where is that guy living at?

ill be able to get masked angels pretty soon, but they demand a huge price tag even if you get them straight from the diver.

The one time I saw masked angels available i think the price was $2500 for females, $3500 for males and $5000 for pairs. I imagine that if they are aquired in Hawaii they will be somewhat less. FWIW, the female I saw was much prettier than her male counterpart. The orange on the male was a little washed out whereas the blue areas of the female was really vivid. I assume that this is not always the case. I also suspect that the male coloration is more pronoucned in a harem situation

since they are from Hawaii they will be more. lol Only way to get them is 300 feet or so, and then decompression sickness takes hold if the diver doesn't know what he/she is doing.
They aren't in 30 feet of water like in NW hwaiian chains. And now since that is all protected (or is going to be) the only place to get them is Kauai - which there aren't any collectors, and Oahu - which you have to dive 300+ feet to get them.

I will be wholesaling the fish not retailing, but the retail price should be around 5-7K for pairs. The females are actually nicer in many pics. I also assume in a heram situation the male is much more vibrant.

Also <3" bandit angels will be available again!
These little buggers are so deep compared to the big ones, and they always eat. My friend and I found a trick to getting Bandits to eat. has worked on 2 of 2 so far (one was 3.5" the other 5")

can't wait!

Small bandit angels can be found at all depths - it's just that the species in general is more common in deep water.

IMO, the main reason why small bandits usually adjust better than big ones is that their swim bladders are small enough to withstand the rather stressful decompression methods used by most divers. Adult bandits can do quite well if they're collected properly, which sadly isn't usually the case.

Don't hold your breath for masked angels BTW - it's not as simple as you think.

If it was one specimen in the collector's corner as soon as it's sold it goes away... last time they had them years ago they were $1499.99... If they had one someone went to Easter Island and others will show up...

Terryz_: I think Rare Angels had one years back. Although it is not rare I do have a venustus that is eating flake and pellets.
