ricoridaking,

I can understand wanting to wait to report some kind of success, but please report to us ANYTHING you learn that makes the fry survival better or worse, I think you have a great opportunity to share the knowledge

Brian

Time for a water change unless you have a fair amount of T-Iso in there.

Looking fine, nice full belly.

How many where you able to fish out this time?

I have done a water change every other day so far, this time I was able to fish out only about 20 with the fry snagger. That was out of only 25 eggs that was left after the male eat his share. I loss 3 so far again I think it is from the second day hatchers.

I forgot to mention that on day three they were all up against the side walls of the tank, I thought that the lights must have been too intense for them. So I placed the light higher up, but they were all still stuck up against the glass. When I took the dark side covers off the tank then they went about their business swimming around eating rotifers. So all and all the sides came off on day three.

Ok fellas more good news, they just laid a nice batch of eggs on a tile I'll transfer them to there own tank tonight.
I was thinking of using a separate tank attached to the main display to keep the same water going throughout the egg tank until the night before they hatch. What do you guys think?

I read the same but the male will eat half what was just laid, so I might take a risk.

Yep good idea.

You can use a PH to "fluff" the eggs, but keep in mind that the male maybe eating the eggs for a reason, not fertile, etc. So if you move them early, be prepared to do his job.

I have used the small MaxiJet PH to fluff the eggs and it works great from a distance. What I ended up doing was using a 10g and putting a foam filter on the PH intake which knocked the flow back enough to make it work.

Sounds like you are making some progress. I have some questions (my 'gripes are hatching tonight). From your picture, it looks like you are co-cultivating the fry with rotifers and phyto. Is that correct? If so, it looks pretty thick in there (or the photo is deceiving). How about some details.

My last batch all died within a day, but I think I did too much manipulating. Also, my bicinctus are spawning again so I will try them too. I could use the practice. I have followed most of the info here, but any additional tips would be helpful. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Dan
