Will they run other manufactures pc bulbs?

read the whole thread and you'll see that they do sell replacements and they do run other manufacturers PCs. HTH

I just checked the tracking of my package online and this is what it says. Does anyone know what this means? "UPS has received shipper's billing information electronically. Billing information received does not indicate shipment pickup or drop-off. Please contact the shipper for more details." TIA

It means the seller has printed the address label for your package at the shippers online site. They know the seller is going to ship the package but not when they will actually do so.

yes, the fixtures drive other manufacturers bulbs. Aquatraders does sell replacement bulbs, but I would put another bulb in there, like Hellolights.com or coralvue

I did so, and the color from the replacement bulbs is much better

Out of curiosity, what bulbs did you order/put in?

marcelo,

mine are the 48" pc fixtures. In each, I put two 10k bulbs, and two 50/50 bulbs (10k/actinic)

very white light

Capt insano, just out of curiosity. Your new lighting system is now 75% daylight and 25% actinic. Do you like the look and how would you describe it? It no doubt looks different than the previou 50/50 mix. Mind if I ask how much it cost to replace all the bulbs, and did you do it off the bat, or down the road? Thanks for any info, cuz I'll be doing some lighting changes sooner or later (good results now though).

there is no middle company to add cost.

Understand?
I work for a large company that does this exact thing, but not for aquarium equipment. We deal with many vendors all over the world that produce brand name goods for clients who then make consumers pay a premium for the name, but then they use the same exact tooling and manufacturing process and sell to us DIRECT, which enables us to sell under our own brands for much less. Volume sales drive profit. For example, Company A sells 2 aquariums at $100 a piece, but Company B sells 4 aquariums at $50 a piece. Company B is potentially going to get a lot more traffic and attention due to their lower prices. Word spreads and people will flock to them. Just a thought.

On the contrary, Chinese manufacturing has come quite a long way. If it is bought from the right factories overseas it can easily rival or surpass quality of American made products for less money. On the other hand, not all Chinese products are great. That can be said for any country though. Buying products produced in China is a double-edged sword. My point is, just because it says it's made in China doesn't mean it's bad stuff. 10-15 years ago I'd agree, but today, I wouldn't just shrug it off at first glance.

I love my Oddysea 24" 150W MH fixture. I used to use a Coralife 2x65W PC fixture and should have went with MH in the first place. The 20K bulb is really white and brings out a lot of details now in the tank.

Oops my mistake. It's the same fixture. 24" 150W MH + 2x 18W PC. I don't have an exact measurements.

TWO WORDS TO BE FEARED IN THE 21ST CENTURY.

CHINESE PRICES.

*BUZZ BUZZ* ~end of transmission~
if there is money to be made, Chinese will be there.
be wary of quality, but eventually it'll level off.

Or Real Estate. I can't believe my house went up 130K in 10 months. It went up 90K even before I moved in. I wonder how much tank I can buy with 130K. :P

Just posting a new picture of my tank with the 48" MH unit on it. Keep in mind that it's on a 90 tall. Cycle is nearing completion and coloration is coming back to the live rock:
