The following Pink Birds Nest (Seriatopora hystrix ) with Purple Polyps images are taken just 3 months apart.

Impressive growth rate!

Thanks, it's actually even brighter pink than that. Camera doesn't capture it well enough.

Nope. My days using becketts are over. I'm very happy with the performance of the needle wheel Euroreef RC500. Have a link handy? Still like to read it.

Had yet another tank spawn tonight. Primarily the tiger trochus snails but it appears clams released as well. 28 individual snails can be observed releasing eggs and sperm. 12 of them are joined together tightly right at the water surface. The display is pretty cloudy and billions of "items" are floating in the water.

It's been 15 minutes straight of non-stop streams of sperm/eggs coming out. Water is cloudy enough that I can't even get a decent picture.

Rich, tank is looking really nice. It's got that nice vibrant, healthy look to it.

I love that Gorgonia. I PMed you about it.

Good luck with your tank's inhabitants.

You took a slow approach in how you set up this tank, and the results are plain to see. Very nice!

LOL. The glass was pretty clean. Some of that is just sediment in the water. I actually use the blade of that scraper glued to the edge of a cleaning magnet. Works fantastic.

I think some of us are curious to see a pic of the cloudy water, and just what it looks like during a spawning event.

I only clean the front glass. Not interested in keeping the back glass or sides clean as it is an inwall tank.

Poor some milk in a glass of water. Thats pretty much what it looks like.

Next time it happens I'll take a picture. I have some pictures of my anemone spawning on my site from my last setup:

Once the clams and bristle worms joined in the tank was a white out.

Got replacement impellers from Euro Reef today. These are the new black needle wheels with longer, softer pins. These impellers draw in significantly more air. Within a few minutes the skimmer started to overflow using my old water level settings.

I had to back-out the gate valve about 8 turns to stop the skimmer from overflowing.

Secondly, I got a thicker o-ring for the skimmer which Euro Reef claims will make the bayonet fitting (collection cup) much easier to get off. Since it is thicker, it is now a very slight turn to get a good seal.

Lastly they supplied me with longer air hose to get the ends higher above the skimmer water level. If a pump should jamb or get powered off water squirts out of its air line when the end is lower than the water level of the skimmer. I now have the air lines secured above the height of the collection cup.

I remember reading all about your last tank.

Inspired me to go reef in my set-up. I never thought I could ever have as nice a tank as yours, but now I am getting close!

Long-timers like you are a real bonus to the hobby, especially when they have good record keeping skills, and photo-shooting abilities, unlike me.
