he he...unbelievable Iwan. That's what I love about reefs. They are always changing.

I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but how are you keeping your sand so clean? Is it a DSB or just ornamental?

How about a big, high quality picture of the whole tank?

It is a DSB.
I replace the topmost layer twice per year.
Here the desired picture:

I can only imagine how satisfying it is to reach this level of reef keeping.
I've studied every single SPS reef aquarium ever shown here on RC and I can honestly tell you that I've never seen a more beautiful reef. This is the pinnacle in my opinion.
If there were a category of 'Tank of the Century', yours would be it!
Thanks again for sharing.
I enjoy to relax in front of the aquarium daily.
When I had a hard day, then I can enjoy the evening ahead of my corals.
Of course the tank also needs some hours work in the week.

Beautiful tank Iwan. You should sell your secrets.

I read the whole thread and might have missed it but how deep is your sand bed and what kind of sand do you use? Also what type of salt?

I was also wondering how you keep you sandbed so clean. I have always disliked DSB because i think they look ugly with all the gunk in them, but yours is so pretty

I suck the top layer off with a hose. The easiest way is during water change.

I change the top layer (0.5 - 1 ") every six month. The sand looks white and clean with this procedure.

My sand bed is 4.5 - 5" deep. First I used the livesand frome "Nature's ocean" now I prefer the livesand from "carib sea". This sand is finer an whiter than the "Nature's ocean" product.

Iwan, it looks like all the corals are touching each other in your pictures and even in the video. Yet there doesn't seem to be any chemical warfare occuring and each colony looks healthy from edge to edge. How are you managing this?

Hi Melev

The people often ask me that. I make nothing! My opinion is: If the conditions for the corals are optimal, they adjust themselves. They change the growth direction, or stop growth.

Hi, I must say this is an awsome tank! Can anyone tell me what kind of sump and water circulation iwan is using? I looked at his site but it is hard for me to navigate.

Very stunning! Do you know the approximate gph? Also, if he has no sump where are his protein skimmers?

In the back corner of the tank I believe...look back a few pages for a diagram.
