OK, here's an update picture wise. The pics are with the sicce pump as a nw pump producing 10scfh and roughly 700-800gph now and the bermuda venturi is still pulling 25scfh using a air flow controller. he skimmer output is wide open and now i adjust the water level with the air flow. Anyhow, its starting to break in.
Micro's are very minimal.

so luke, you're using a needlewheel pump in those pics?
also, i have a spare eheim 1260 pump. you seem to be optimisitic about the coupling of this pump with the rogue... wouldnt it be too much flow? i think bermuda recommends a mag 3.5 for optimal performance.... i am seriously thinking about this skimmer .. im still on the fence about the mce600 as i;d be paying a 250 dollar premium for it. |

The latest pics i'm using a nw, earlier i was not. I would love to test the 1260 but i'm not going to buy one just to see how it works or IF it works. Bermuda recomends 350gph....i'm running 1000gph through it, and its at the break of to much. 600 shouldn't be to much imo, but it is an eheim which is underated. Send it over and i'll test it and send it back...thats the only way to tell. Would i buy a mce600 after using this, i wouldn't buy one to begin with just because of price. But time will tell. I'm guessing in a week i'll know what this thing will do.

OK, here's 24hrs of the first day with no fiddling. Pretty good for a brand new skimmer. Here's pry around 1/2cup or so.

Thats some crazy skimmate. Hey Luke which QO would you recommend in replacement for the siccee pump since the siccee pumps are pretty pricey and you told me the QOs are knock offs. So which QO would you recommend?

The same pump as the sicce suprema is the qo4000. I have one i just got and i will be modding it soon, just haven't gotten around to it. I got teh QO4000 brand new for 30bux shipped ; ) I plan on geting it up to around 40 or 50scfh and then seeing what i plan on doing with it. The sicce suprema will pull 30scfh if i want it to stock. I would love to test a mag 5 or a mag 7 on this skimmer. I tried a laguna 3 stationery pump tonight and it pulled 11scfh. Just not good enough.

Hmm is the QO4k alot bigger than the sicce? and would boaring out the venturi cap or intake help incraese the amount of air and water? I remember I pmed you awhile pack with a boaring picture of the cap and it waas said it improved air intake.

Yep, it does about 10scfh more with the volute cover boared out. Its a bit larger and its a male fitting instead of a female.

Day two, i emptied it and cleaned out the collection cup. I think this skimmer is going to be a clear winner. I do wish i had a mag 5 or 7 to throw on here to see how it would work. I think the 5 would pull 20 and the 7 would pull 25scfh and it would be about teh perfect flow. Here's a couple pics. If anyone has a pump around those specs let me know as i would buy it for a good price.....price being cheap ; ) After only two days i'm very impressed with this guy. I've never had a skimmer take anything out for around a week at break in. The skimmate is far from what i want dryness wise, but its going to become nice and dry. There is no bioload in this tank as there's no fish or LR.......

Well, I unfortunately foung out tonight i'm a moron. lol, I was getting po'd cuz i couldn't open up the air all the way. Anyhow, its opened up all throttle and i'm pushing 10scfh through the NW pump. Noticed the water level was at the most restrictive, opened it up and noticed i can pump more than 35scfh through this guy with no bad effects. Can't wait to see what kind of skimmate it produces. Here's a couple pics as its completely milked out.

Well an update. I have it pulling good foam as i changed it up today. It was pulling 2-4cups of the tan skimmate per day and i was getting tired of that. The problem is there's no bioload in my 75g as there's no LR or fish in it. Just tons of pods and bristle worms i'm raising. Anyhow i dumped a cup or so of coffee sewage from my other skimmer from the last 12hrs. Funny, it started producing good stuff imediately after doing this. I'll take pics tomorrow and we'll see what happens. The skimmer is now pulling 10scfh from the NW and 25scfh from the venturi. Its pretty good imo thaht its pulling 10scfh nw as it has to travel a foot up and a foot and a half down through two 90degree's. Its pulling over 35scfh non restricted.

Yea, it pulled all teh skimmate out in less than an hour. It seems to be pretty well broken in at this point. The foam kept coming out the vent tops and looked like freakin ears. It was pretty sick. The smornin when i got up it was just a big mess of foam in the collection cup and still more skimmate was coming up. I took pics of it all so i'll post tonight if i get a chance. And yep, seems like this is the hot skimmer to beat. Especially if you use a larger pump than recommended. I'd still like to throw a mag 5 and 7 on it to see what would happen.

OK, here's what happened last night after i threw the skimmate in the 75g.
It was pulling it out so fast it couldn't keep up. Well, no more simulated tests, i threw it on the 125g display and within seconds it started pulling out dark colored foam. I'll post some pics when it gets some gunk.

Its a sicce suprema, but i think i'll change it out and put on a mag 5 or 7 here shortly. THis thing is quite a monster, its already pulling out some good stuff on my display, i'm guessing it'll have a cup of nasty by morning.

Hey look its mickey mouse Thats crazy skimmate. Can it compete with in sump skimmers as of now? And which in sumps can it keep up with, just curious.

Not sure, but yes, pulling 35scfh it will compete with many many in sump skimmers. Its tough to say right now which one's but time will tell.

I hear ya there man, i was thinking that the smornin, but oh well, it'll never be perfect. I'll post some pics tonight, the collection cup was full of dark brown foam when i woke up, just sick looking, I can only think of what it will look like in another 10hrs. I set it up on my tank last night around 1130 so after 8hrs it was already sick. 24hrs later i'm guessing it will have a cup of dark skimmate.

Whats in your tank? Can I see a front shot of your tank? Just curious to see how big that pump might be, for a big tank I dont think it would matter much because it look small but for a small tank thats going to make it look big. But overall very impressive, whats the total cost of the unit + a good pump? If its cheaper than the deltec mce and does a better job than people should get it.

Its very minimal in my 125g as i have a huge canopy covering the top few inches of the tank. In a tank smaller than a 55g its not going to be a big deal. Its basically the same as a remora image wise. Total cost was 250 for the skimmer and i spent 40 on the sicce and that is after shipping. So 290 for a very nice hot skimmer that will most likely be enough for a 125g tank or less. I mean at 35scfh or 991lph air it should be enough for a lightly stocked 250g, medium stocked 165g or a heavily stocked 124g tank. And you have to take into consideration most will pry pull 16scfh with a mag 3. I will eventually pry go with a mag 5-7 to run it though. I'll also take off the nw mod as well. Sooooo realistically it'll do 25scfh or 708lph and skim a light 177g, med 118g or heavy 90g. When it pulled out all the nasty in the pics it was on my 75g qt with nothing at all in it. I dumped some skimmate in there and it went absolutely nuts and pulled all that out in less tahn a couple hrs. I now have it on my 125g with a decent load on there. 150lbs lr, two 1.5" clowns, mandarin, 6line, rock beauty(4.5"), scopas tang(3") and a bunch of softies and lps. I'm guessing when i get home there will be around a cup of skimmate and it will be super dry.
