alright, maybe I could cut the top off, just below the blue, and fashion a square thumb screw flange set for it.

OR, if you go to a plumbing supply, you can get unions for larger diameter pipe up to 4". You toss out the pipe connector that isnt threaded, and use an acrylic disk to cap the union. Very easy to make, and you just use weldon or even PVC cement to attach the union to acrylic pipe...or even clear PVC pipe. I have made a few like this...much easier to make and use than a flange set.

Um, its in storage. Its a little late now, but tomorrow I will take a snapshot and post it. OR, I got the idea from the kalk reactors that the Barr and GEO.
Look at the plug at the top of the flange on this GEO. Its a small union, but instead of the other end of the union, a small acrylic disk is inserted. http://www.geosreef.com/nielsen_reactors.htm

Well, there are less expensive ones that seem to do the same thing. Anyone have one of these?
http://www.midwestaquatic.com/sulfur_denitrifier.htm I know the Korallin if very popular in Germany I don't have one. I hear from others that they do work, but the directions are hard to follow unless you speak Germen, which I don't very well. http://www.anton-gabriel.at/schwef1.htm |

This one looks like the same thing too.
http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/inde...howtopic=40899 This is a pretty good review. I think they all pretty much do the same thing. Filter through sulfur and coral. Seems like a good DIY. |

I'm posting in my local reef club forum as to updates on this particular unit and my experiences with it. You can find the thread here: http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=752497 My tank params as of 1/16/2006: Ph - 8.1-8.3(swing from night to day) measured with a milwaukee meter Calcuim- 445.1-464.5 (measured with a Pinpoint calcuim meter) Salinity - 1.0245 (measured with a pinpoint meter) Alkalinity - 180 ppm (measured on a Hagen test kit) Nitrites - 0 (measured on a Hagen test kit) Nitrates - 30 (measured on a strip and also a seachem test kit) I hope to have my unit in on Friday, 1/20/2006 and installed Saturday, 1/21/2006. I will post full tank pics of before, during, and after the unit is installed and will try my best to keep my params updated to find out if the unit is working correctly. The pics won't help much except I do have the remnants of a hair algae outbreak on my gravel now, so hopefully that will go away - which we'll be able to see in the pictures. Although I am fairly sure my outbreak was due to old RO/DI filters and they have since been replaced about a month ago. The hair algae has been dwindling since then, but the last small bit is stubborn.

Worst instructions ever!!!
Got it installed yesterday, even the picture on the back contradicts the instructions on media placement. If possible I would recommend to fill it with the media when it already has some water in it in order to avoid trapped bubbles, even though they will eventually come out of the system. Who knows if you can accelerate the "break in" / "culture" by eliminating those bubbles from the start.

I wouldn't be too sad - using research, I can comfortably say that they are not that effective

Working faster than expected, Its nice to see algae just dissolve away. Every algae type is turning white and dissolving into the tank.

How much will 1 litre of beads support? For a 375gal. tank, how much beads would you need if that tank has 50ppm NO3?

Well, I finally took the time to upload two pictures of what the melting looks like. It has continued to some degree but its getting harder to notice new algae melting occurances within the tank.
