mandarin's behavior
Greetings,
We got a mandarin for our seahorse tank several weeks ago and he has gone crazy. He spends a lot of time swimming at the top of the tank and when he's not there he is in the corner of our tank stirring up the sandbed! He has almost removed all the sand out of the front corners. Is this normal behavior? Thanks for your help. Rick & Shelly |

What size tank is it in and how much LR do you have? Do you have a good population of pods? If not then he's probably already eaten what was available and is digging for more.

have you got a fair bit of rock in your tank. A mandarin normaly picks at the rocks to get his little crustations. He is probably looking for food.If he is not getting any thing he will die.Is he eating live brine shrimp?

The tank is 40 gals and there is about 40 lbs of live rock. Did I mention that there are 6 seahorses in the same tank? They have probably done quite a number on the pod population. I will purchase 100+ pods mixed spieces and attempt to re-pod my tank. I thought his actions were hunger driven...
