Transfer method question

Terry,
I have been searching for years for a method to minimize new fish loss due to marine ich. I began using the transfer method while slowly stocking a new 180 gallon reef system over the last year or so. Several of the fish showed signs of ich (hiding, not eating, white specks, etc.) during the transfer process, but in the end I have not lost a single fish and all seem to be happy and healthy in the main tank. These fish include several tangs and small angels.

My question is... a local retailer who I believe is pretty knowledgeable told me I was wasting my time because the parasites remain in the fishes stomach anyway.

Is this true???

Thanks
