DT's Phytoplankton for SPS

I know SPS does not eat phytoplankton, but does eat zooplankton.

zooplankton, however, feed on phytoplankton. Is the best way to increase live zooplankton numbers in a tank to dose with DT's phytoplankton? Would this indirectly be a great way to promote SPS growth?

Ever since I started dosing with phytoplankton (I have two flame scallops, thought I'd keep them happy), my acropora colonies and frags have the most amazing polyp extension I've ever seen. Before they were only coming out a little bit, but now they're crazy! I have a lot of growth on the colonies now. I'm pretty sure this is related to the DT's, since nothing else other than the flame scallops were new.

Can anyone back this up?

Ditto--I'm almost in tears because my guy has been out of DTs for two weeks. BIG difference.

I just saw today that Iwan feeds DT's (he has clams though) and that tidal gardens website mentions that feeding DT's does not directly feed SPS, but can increase other planktonic species which SPS can feed upon. All anecodotal of course

I don't know, many in the SPS don't use it and have stellar tanks.

I think I'm softening my view on it some, just montior your PO4 levels carefully.

I use DT's and rotifers every 2 days for my coral and use Kent's zooplankton in every other feeding, I have LPS, SPS, softies and zoo's, along with 2 clams, Everything in the tank is quite happy and growing strong, fixing to have to frag again........ But it's all worth it.

Awesome. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees such a huge difference. I'm sure they do well without, but OMG the polyps are so extended that I won't go back to w/o DT's.

I dose one capful every other day in my 32 gallon. you guys?

Careful with DTS to much fuels bad algae problems. You can make your own DTS much cheaper.
