I'm running a three pump recirc on my 140..

I did just what you're suggesting. I have a Tee off my overflow drain line that I feed directly into the skimmer:



This way the nastiest of the water ends up going through the skimmer first. When I feed frozen food the skimmer starts pulling it out almost instantly.
