temperture?
what temperture should i try to keep my tank at?
its running about 78-80 F, is that to high? |

I target about 82 F as the base temperature. 78 is a bit low, in my opinion, but 80 should be okay.

77.7.....thats what the Shed in Chicago keeps their tanks at and thats what i keep mine at...never had a problem.

79 F on the low side, 82 F on the high side. This works for me. Again, all tanks are different. What works for me may not work in your tank. I try not to have more then 2* differance between high and low.

Mine will vary between 75 and 86 throughout the year. No problem. If i had to choose a constant, 78.

There's no perfect temperature (in fact a range would be better) but an average somewhere in the low 80s is good. 82 is about the average for reefs worldwide and there is no real benefit to being much lower than that. It doesn't provide any more margin of error.
