Any Place to get Free RODI water?

Anyone in dupage know of a place to get free RODI water? I know of some places (meijer and dominicks) that sell it, but are there any stores that give it away for free?

no....... Why would they do that????? It's about $1 a gallon. You might find a nice person to hook you up that has a ro/di filter. The only free things in this hobby are algae outbreaks and fish poop.

I highly suggest against buying from those stores. Their filters are almost never changed.

Your choices are:
1) Buy from a reputable shop
2) Get yourself a filtration system (Randall B sets up nice ones for good $$$)
3) Do like I do & find someone here that lives in your neighborhood you can beg it off of or trade services, frags, etc for.

In Naperville try Whole Foods at Naper/Butterfield. They change the filter often (look at the service sticker) and I think it's only 49 or 55 cents per gallon (can't remember). I've never had a problem with their water.

yes whole foods has RO for .45 per gallon, you just bring your own container.. if one is near you. I am quite happy with my RO/DI from Randall B. $1/gallon will quickly get more expensive that RO unit.... and I could only keep up evaporation when making almost weekly trips for water..carrying 80lbs each time and still burned through $$ over time. But if system is small enough and you have and a couple of 5 gallon vessles and a convenient and cheap store selling RO water, you could forestall the purchase of RO unit and make such trips.

there is a guy in my building that gets water delivered. I too thought that might be a great idea, that is until I glanced at the invoice they left with his 5 gallon jug. It was $15. Yikes - $3 per gallon. No way is that economical.

Just my experiences...

ro/di

I tried to PM Randall B also about a ro/di system but I didn't ever receive a response back. I definately need a ro/di unit though. Filterdirect seems to be a popular choice on ebay.

He has been out of town. About 10 days for work. He is the best guy to hook up with for the unit. Give him a chance to reply.

He hooked me up with an upgrade for the DI, all new media, and all other filters, for less than it cost me to just buy the filters on line.

Trust me.

Wait for Randal to respond.

Sea Schor in Buffalo Grove gives free water on some days in December but there is a maximum amount. However, I would highly recommend getting your own unit so you can control the quality.
