Not the technical answer
Try a whole bunch of cerith snails, turbo snails, nerite snails or a few different types of small hermit crabs.

I've always just increased the level of disolved O2 in the tank, Through skimming adding air stones to the sump. That always seems to work in tandem with a water changes. Just my opinion.
