I think I have Aiptasia?
Is this bad? When I bought my LR, I had one that I knew of. Now that my aquarium is settling out, I'm noticing more little ones. I hear differing opinions as they are good and bad.
If someone has a link to a picture so I can identify for sure that what I see is Aiptasia, I would be thankful. Chief

If you go to Google images and put in "aiptasia" you will get links to lots of pictures. I don't know if you will find many people who regard them as good. Most people consider them a nuisance because they spread quickly.

if you want to take the natrual way. add a few peppermint shriimp to eat these guys. add a few shrimp each week till they dissapear. id reccomend starving the shrimp for a few days if possible to assist in his hunger for aptasia takes over.
or use some kalkwasser paste in a syringe with needle to blast em but i think the peppermint shrimp work better for long term control |

You can also use Joe's Juice to get rid of these. You can buy Joe's Juice at many LFSs.

Joe's Juice worked wonders for me as well. You just need to stay on top of them and not let them get out of control,

I agree with Zestay -- kalkwasser, boiling water or lime juice kills them easly enough. The shrimp path is good as well and free food. There's enough things to spend your $ on - Dave

I've had best luck with using the kalkwasser, its just as effective as joes juice and cheaper. You can always use it for calcium additions after the aptasia control, research that aspect though. Getting rid of them sooner than later should be of importance, they spread quite fast.

I had a LARGE infestation when I got my tank a year ago. Not knowing what they were, I let them spread. I finally used a combo of Joe's juice and a couple of peppermint shrimp for the couple of hundred that I had. Shut down all pumps and Joe's Juice what you can see. Get a couple of peppermint shrimp for what you can't see. Only prob after is that my shrimp went after other things after that food supply was gone. Had to trap them and put them in my refugium.

Pickle lime from your local grocery store has worked well for me. Just mix it with some RO/DI water into a paste and inject away. Then you could get some peppermint shrimp to keep the new ones under control.
