Prodibio Bio Clean & Skimmer reaction
Hello, I'm thinking of trying the product. Have anyone using it before and would like to share the experience? Does it affect the skimmer at all? Thanks ~S~

I keep the skimmer running when dosing biodigest / bioptim. I only turn off the skimmer if dosing reefbooster aa's.

does bio clean really effective for cleaning the algae? I saw many review and they gave it like 4 or 5 stars at marinedepot. I don't mind trying it. so it doesn't make skimmer flood right? that's what i'm afraid of.

PSam does your skimmer run normal while you are using biodigest/bioptim?

Skimmer may produce a little more for a day or two after dosing the bacs / carbon, but it has never caused any overflow. You could shut down the skimmer for 30 min or so while dosing the bacs to let them settle, some do. I usually do not unless I'm feeding the tank as well.
The only skimmer issue is with reefbooster which kill surface tension. I shut down skimmer overnight when adding reefbooster. Since starting the bioclean (9/16), my water is noticeably clearer, especially the first few days after dosing. My skimmer does not produce as much in general, and I have close to zero nuisance algae. Nitrates lowered from 20ppm to less than 2ppm last I tested. PO4 has gone from 0.14 to 0.02 at last check. You can click on my red house for blog, I've noted most of my observations on my tank since starting prodibio. Good husbandry plays a part in this as well. It's not magic, nor the end all be all solution to any tank issues. Your mileage may vary; I am pleased with the results so far and will stick with it.

Logan switching to FM? are you going to be going full blown ultra?
For the new set up i'm thinking FM+Prodibio. Would go zeo+prodibio but with "you know who" carrying FM it makes it much easier. empire, sorry for the mini-hijack... eric

Hey eric -whats up? Yeah, the unmentionable
![]() I'm going to run hybrid for now. I like the prodibio, and have seen some others doing prodibio / zeo who seem to be pleased with the results. I want to start the FM because the prodibio works in some ways, but I think daily doses / adjustments will give me more control than the 'vial a week' deal. I will definitely stick with prodibio, and plan on slowly incorporating the FM. Why not, right? ![]() I'm over in zeoville right now trying to devise a little reactor plan...

I've been using the prodibio for about 16 months. I use the booster, optim, and digest. I usually dose the booster first so it "kills" the skimmer then I dose the other two so they don't get skimmed out and I don't have to turn off the skimmer pump. I would like to think that the prodibio is the reason for my successful reef, but who knows? It could just be good husbandry.

my thoughts exactly. the extra surface area of the zeolites and daily dosing should definitely help.
i think i'm going to go with an ATB reactor...all the rest look, err um... ![]()

ah yes, ATB would be nice... until then...
...I'll be fashioning a "reactor" out of random bits, pieces & parts laying around my various boxes of aquarium crap....

i always thought incorporating the mechanism from those salad spinners/tossers would be neat
![]() you should be able to make one fairly easily...lmk if you need any random parts. i've got a bunch of stuff.
