The 1" frag contest

OK, here's a little contest I just invented. Post a picture of a frag you have recently acquired (within the last month). The frag must be 1" or smaller. Every 3 months post a new picture of it.

Each 3 months the entrys will be judged (by the thread readers) for the frag which shows the most growth, coloration, improvement, and/or overall "wow" factor (to reward slower growing corals). Yes, this is a little fuzzy...but the forum readers will be the judge and you don't exactly get much more than bragging rights if you win - so go complain to someone else.

Oh yeah: you can enter more than 1 frag if you want...

So here's my first entry, a GARF Purple Bonsai:

First a closeup. The base is obscured by a lime vermiculata.

Here's a wide shot. The color is this one is more realistic than the macro shot above (just got the macro lens...still working out the kinks).

That's funny...I've got a pink jade too almost the exact same size. I've gotta get a picture of it first though...

The Bonsai suffered an accidental fragging taking off the second stalk so it looks a little less pretty now. I also have a couple of others that I may add to the contest soon. But it won't be much fun if only the two of us play.

I have a one inch frag of a really nice green with blue tips stag. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture yet and it is a lot less colorful now (making more zoox, went from 1000w halide to 150). I may still post it once I get a pic of it.

Pink polyp cap and the Strawberry Patch are two different caps that are on the Tyree LE list.

This sounds like great fun.

My bad. It's the pink polyp cap. I had to go back and check when I purchased it.

No worries, just thought I would clarify on those caps. Both are awesome .

Bill, You're killin me, lol. How are the frags doing???

I think you should separate out the chalices from the acros for the "bragging rights contest"...just my thoughts. I am going to throw up a picture this weekend, maybe my $500 efflo and one of my Rasta chalice and/or Miami Hurricane chalice . The Rasta and Miami are growing hecka fast....love it!!!!

For it to be official the pics should be date and time stamped. Any old fool can take pics and call the time period elapsed what they want....it happens alot on here!

Mine aren't time stamped, but the original file has all that info, inc. camera settings, so I could always prove it if I had to. I'd like to think people would use the honor system.

I don't expect to win playing against some of the better known growers out there I am only playing because I want to see some excellent pics and am hoping that I may pick up a tip or two.

Besides I can't compete with some of the local tanks. Socal is a tough place to have your tank be worthy of real notice.
