I've just been using these acrylic safe scrub pads from petsmart and set of marine gloves. Nothing like a little bit of elbow grease!

ive used kent scrapers and old credit cards....acrylic safe of course. I've also heard of people using those plastic things that people use to apply plaster with that are vailable at home depot for cheap. Great for larger tanks.

I'm at a point now that the acrylic has been messed up by years of scaping...I need to polish it now and I'll have to do it with a full aquarium |

Pentair has the full kit for polishing aquariums, just don't use the liquid glazing part of it.
BTW, I use the acrylic safe scrubbers and the magnet scrapers.

I've read that after using the sanding grits without the buffering liquid agent it still looks good and un-noticable with water but noticable without.

to get the harder coraline i had to use this
http://www.therme-at.com/index.htm it works ok, it makes the coraline 10X easier to get off. but you still have to scrape it.

I've used outlet and light switch covers for a long time on acrylic tanks for the nastiest coralline. But, I don't want to say your particular tank is safe with your particular wall cover plate. Try it on the outside back first maybe?

if it is empty tank, just spray vinegar on it and let it soaks for a while.

I haven't tried it on acrylic tanks, but you can buy all plastic spackle trowels. I've used it on glass tanks to take off diatom and coralline.
