Lightbulb How long should i leave light on for?

Not to sound like a noob, but I usually leave the light on my 55 gallon on from about 9am to 12am. Is that too long or not enough?

yeah a 15 hour photoperiod is a bit excessive. I run pc on my 50gal and have antics on at 8:30am whites on at 9am, then whites off at 9:30pm and antics off at 10pm.

So about 12 hours for whites and 13 hours for actinics. Is this long enough for both hard and soft corals or only hard?
