I personally think that a shrimp/goby pair would make a great centerpiece. I had a pistol shrimp and a spotted prawn goby. They kinda got lost in my 90 gallon but were super interesting to watch.

I have a yellow watchman goby and a true perc. The goby only comes out to eat, but i definately recommend at least a clown, a pair would be better IMO.

What about a pair of firefish with a redscooter goby?
Or maybe a pair of true percs w/the goby?
I'm starting a 10g myself, it's one week into cycling and still no signs of "crazy" algae. I'm thinking of adding some crabs and snails... any suggestions?

what red scooter goby? If its red scooter blenny then its "really" hard to keep them in a nano tank because they usually only feed on pods

I've had a six line wrasse, and a clown but a firefish or some sort of goby would also be good a yellow coris wrasse and I've had a yellowtail blue damsel for color. If you want bright colors in your tank thats is.

Two firefish are not recommened together in a small tank. One will become very dominant and force the other in hiding.

From Live Aquaria:

It will rarely become aggressive towards other fish, but is territorial, and will fight with its own kind unless they are a mated pair.

I recommend a Clown and a Purple Firefish.

You will be fine with a pair of firefish. Your tank is quite small for a dwarf angel. I have a flavicauda angel thats one of the smallest of dwarf angels but used every bit of space in my 65gal tank. A 10gal would be small for him

Since i started my tank I have had

A Cherub angle
then i got a Gold stripe maroon and a BTA
then i got a small green stripe goby

all was good for a while, then the goby being so damn small went though the overflow and got stuck on the spung

Then the angle died for some unknown reason....he was fat and happy the day before and I was sad

So I replaced him with a flame tail goby and a pistol shirmp.

Goby and shrimp are alot of fun to watch, especialy when they dig a tunnel into the clowns side and then he goes and fills it back in

I like to break some of the rules so I have a very small yellow tang and a very small blue tang in my 10 gal. I bought them when they were about 1" and now they are around 2-2.5". I think they are definitely outgrowing the tank.

Not to sound like the "Tang Police" but that is WAY too small of a space for those fish. Breaking the rules is one thing......

Hi! We have recently set up a 29g and a JBJ Nano. I have a 10g that I would like to set up soon, too.
I'm really writing though because I just noticed your quote. We live in the Charlotte are and have PSL's for the Panthers. Do you know if there are any clubs in this area that get together to talk fish?

scarletknight -

2 TRUE percs or FALSE percs (ocsillarus)- spelling?

Adult size is different (true percs are smaller) and would determine whether there's room for another tiny fish.

Some gobies are really small and wouldn't add much bioload.

I thought false percs are the smaller ones.

Just find a goby you like and put him in there. I have 3 fish in my JBJ and they are fine -- False Perc, 6-line wrasse, bicolor blenny. I've had it set up for about 8 months now and everything is great.

I have a pair of true percs & a purple firefish in my 18 gallon nano :O)

Scarlet - a small yellow clown gobie would work well in a 10 gallon ... they don't swim a lot, but instead "perch" on rocks and corals.
