Strange Tube Worm?
I am trying to identify an invert. I believe it is a type of tube worm. I does not have frills but does extend a hair like appendage ( several inches) and can retract it back into the tube.
The appendage looks "exactly" like a hair and I assume it is for catching prey in the water column. Has anyone seen something like this. |

Sounds like a hydroid jellyfish or a vermid snail.

Thanks for the lead
I googled vermetid snail. There are a couple of good articals on them. I am pretty sure that is what it is. They are harmless. The hair appendage is actually a string of mucus that they "fish" with. |
